Hey guy's. I know there is probably something like this on the board already, but do you guy's know any places where I can get a pretty cheap TV that can upscale the resolutions from just a standard TV. I was at the Bestbuy here I have in town, and most of the TV's are going for well over $1,000. Now, I am not looking for that you know, 50" Plasma screen or anything like that, but just a TV that is pretty cheap and can upscale.

Any comments would be helpful. Maybe even tell about the TV you guy's are using. Unless its well over $1,000 lol. (I'm only in High School so minimum wage isn't exatcly getting me far in the electronic department lol) ;)

What size TV?  Over 40 inch or under 40 inch?  If you get one under 40 inch it will save you alot of money because you will generally do great with a 720p/1080i resolution.

The prices listed on the tag can definitely be talked down.

What's your price range?

Yea, I am definitely ranging it under 40" since the space where I am putting my TV probably wouldn't hold a huge TV. As for my price Range, after I get the PS3 when it lowers in price, I will probably just make a savings account... so like 500 - 800 dollars. Somewhere along those lines.

I also am going to search up this 32" TV here. It sounds kind of like what I am looking for.

Thanks for some of the help and keep commenting. ;)

You should be able to get a nice 37" or so TV for that price. Don't forget to haggle with the sales people when you decide to buy.

LoL. Alright thanks for the help. The 32 inch TV posted above is pretty good. It supports 1080I and is less than 500 at this one site. I will probably look around more now though since you said I can get some 37" TV's or so for around the price range, but thanks again guy's. ;)

What are you talking about?  So I could go in to best buy, or circuit city, and talk them down?  Does that really work?

With tvs there's room to haggle. A $2200 retail tv might go on sale for $2000 now and thenm like the new Toshiba 65inch 65hm167, but when some dealers can sell that same one as low as $1650 (not usually reputable but newegg.com has it $1699) or even lower, you know there is plenty of room to haggle. Or sometimes if they won't budge you can maybe get stuff bundled for lower prices.

One thing though, from my experience an employee will usually first tell you there's nothing that can be done and will say anything to make you think talking to the manager would not help.

In one case I had had just bought the 65inch Toshiba from Circuit City and used a AAA 10% coupon and they had a deal for $200 off a HD-DVD player. After I was seeing rainbows and a spot behind the screen I wanted to return it and exchance for a Sony 60inch SXRD. I asked an employee if I could keep the HD-DVD with the $200 off still. He told me no because they were already matching the online Circuit City price for the Sony and the 10% coupon he was pretty sure anything else was out of the question and that he was pretty much it before the manager, and stuff how they only did the $200 off because of get kick backs from Toshiba to cover the cost of the player and such.

Well, the next day I came in and tried again, the price online actually expired too, it was $100 more, but I had a printout of what it was before. This time I talked to someone lower that took me to a manager who without a blink setup up the exchange, matched the expired price and let me keep the Toshiba player at $200 off even though it was supposed to be a package deal only when bought with a Toshiba tv.

And places like Magnolia at BBuy, I can't imagine anyone paying pricetags there, as they are all full list price. A 73inch DLP Mitsu is listed $4999, but Circuit City online has it $3500, or Onecall.com had it $2999 shipped, no tax at one point.

Also, there's going to be a bunch of 42inch PLasmas and LCDs for cheap this weekend for memorial day sales. So except several to be $899 and lower if you have a coupon such as this 10% of Best Buy: http://images.bestbuy.com/BestBuy_US/en_US/images/external/emailpdf/052207_mem_day_coupons.pdf

Best Buy will have this Westinghouse 42inch 720p LCD for $899 this weekend in store, then use that 10% coupon to make it $810 before tax (but I hear it gets bad reviews):

Yep, I've done it twice so far.

My HDTV is a 56" 1080p DLP Samsung purchased in October of last year, I talked them down $500, so I basically got the 4 year warranty, which includes bulb replacement, for free. It was $3k then.

January I believe? A co-worker that I hang out with called me up to meet him at BB since he was looking at HDTVs. His 61" 1080p DLP Samsung was purchased I think for $100 less than mine that I bought a few months earlier. I think BB had it listed for $2500 at the time and I just mentioned, "How about $2k even?" and they came back with $2100 then the 4 year warranty, including bulb replacement, same thing basically had for free.

We actually went to CC to pricematch or beat, and they went $100 less than BB, but didn't have the TV instock. Co-worker wanted it THAT day, so we loaded the TV in his truck.

He paid cash and I used the little BB credit card with 18 months interest free(I'll have it paid off in 12)

Sales people WILL compete for YOUR business, but they're not going to tell the average Joe that they're overpaying.

Thanks for the input guy's. I will definitely check out those websites now along with some of the other TV's. It's a shame I can't talk the workers into lowering the price of the Ps3 right now lol. Guess I'll just wait till next year for that. ;)

The ratings on those sites are bit low, they're better than the worst, but from users experience there, if something goes wrong, plan to have a lot of trouble and probably a sales call to pitch warranty, being charged instantly before the item ships, if ever. I wouldn't trust places like that. Just go to resellerratings.com and search a store before ordering.
