Need some help. I've decided upon selling my old PS2 along with games in order to buy a new console. I need to know if the PSP is a good console for RPG's. No, I'm not going to wait and buy a Vita, because personally, I don't like portable systems, especially ones that will cost me a large chunk of money. Only want to buy one now because games are cheap, and the only portable system I have right now is a GBA, and obviously there aren't anymore games coming out for that. PLEASE HELP!

I would say for RPGs get on your computer, you can play a wider range of rpgs at a higher level by this I mean graphically. And as far as I am aware the PC has more titles than any other console. Also for portable systems rpgs would be quite small in comparrison to other platforms, and the amount of good rpgs considerably less. But if you plan on sticking to the portable devices I would suggest getting a 3ds and you can get games like Dragon quests and final fantasies which would be some of the biggest Portable RPGs you will find.

The PSP, DS and PC are the best choices for RPG fans this gen (PC is always a top tier every gen). The PSP has an awesome library of SRPGs

PSP and DS both have a huge collection of JRPGs and many of them are excellent games. PC has a lot of WRPGs especially the older classics.

My crappy little Compaq laptop will not be able to handle any of the RPG's from this generation. The only thing I'm afraid of when buying a PSP is GameStop will stop selling PSP games when the VIta comes out. But then I thought they might keep them around but have small amounts like they did with the GBA games. But the good thing about all of this is that a have a store that sells a crap ton of video games for all systems not 5 miles from where I live. I will consider buying a DSlite, despite my hatred for touch screens, only because the 3DS is backwards compatible. I'll post a thread on the DS topic asking what good games there are for it. But I would still like some recommendations for good PSP RPG's

The PSP is a haven for the Final Fantasy titles all the way through IX. I don't think III is on it, but the other eight are.

Firstly, I'd recommend keeping your PS2 as it is one of the best consoles ever released.

That said, both the PSP and DS have quite a few great RPGs, I recommend researching the library of each and determining which games best suit your specific RPG interests. (Also keep in mind, you have access to the PSN network via PSP)

The PS2 is great with Rpg's. The pc aswell and the 360 too if you're a fan of JRPGs.
