It can run either way. and both are good. But if you have your ps3 on carpet. I'd put it up vertically.

It runs good horizontally and/or vertically. I don't recommend putting it on carpet, I don't recommend putting any electronics on carpet. Make sure it has a lot of space to get air and vent out hot air.

The safest way would be horizontally, since you risk less chance of it tipping over and falling. However, both vertical and horizontal are safe. Since it's slot loaded it doesn't risk damaging the discs, either way, Bluray discs are quite sturdy and can withstand a pretty good beating. Heating issues won't differ whether you place it vertically or horizontally. But where you place it will.

it could be both ways but horizontal is the best because more air gets out and it wont over heat

Just try to put it in an open area.

Don't cram it into a spot or something.

The PS3 can stand either way, but it standing up seems to be alittle bit better then when it layes down. The PS3 is a very good console and it holds up to it's expectation, yea some of the games dont seem to be all that good at first but how long did it take for the 360 to start getting better huh?
