Not completely, there are hidden rooms to find, you choose from a bunch of plasmoids and guns to use, the choice is yours how you play!
Tbh nearly alll FPS games are the same just because you can see the sky doesnt make them more open! Last FPS i played thatwas not like this wasHalo: CE and only on a couple of levels where you choose what order to do objectives and the levels are MASSIVE!
ive been on the fence for a while with this game. friends keep tellin me to get it, but im not into the whole fps thing AT ALL. whats the appeal?

No, he's absolutely right. BioShock is completely linear. A good example of a non-linear FPS/RPG is The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, or Fallout 3.[QUOTE="grizzlybear1"][QUOTE="el_taco_loco"]

No, he's absolutely right. BioShock is completely linear. A good example of a non-linear FPS/RPG is The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, or Fallout 3.I dont think so, you still have choices of how to play and you can go off into different sections of the levels so its not like your on rail like house of dead or lair which are completley linear.
The thing is all FPS games are all like this you get an objective and you do it and go on to the next one, would you say Uncharted is completly linear? maybe Bioshock is a bit more than others but its the style of the game and it works, its obviousley a great game.
Know what im saying?

I understand what you're saying, but linear is defined essentially as following a direct path and in the case of BioShock in order to progress further into the game then you must follow a distinguished path. You cannot deviate from the story and run amuck in Rapture free to do as you please. There's plenty of variety in accomplishing the task before you, but variety doesn't necessarily define a game as non-linear.The game is just awesome. My only regret was that I bought it for $60 when it came out. I should have waited a couple of months before the price came down. PolarBear_88
Ah yeh I know what you mean i paid £40 for Dead Space on release and eneded up trading it in. But at least you didnt buy something like Haze full price!!!
At first, when the game was talked about lots, and it was announced as a "full X360 exclusive", I was bitter, and forgot about it fast.
Some time later a guy discovered in the code that "PS3" appeared in it. Quite strange of the developer to mention a platform the game would never be released in.
Then the game was announced to be released on PS3, and as the same thing happened to Lost Planet and eternal Sonata (I'm too lazy to search for an article where the game developers say "this game will ONLY be released on XBOX360"), it only means they signed a contract with Microsoft where they got lots of money and the game developers had to stay silent about a future release on PS3, thus allowing more games and consoles to be sold for Microsoft.
To get back on topic, I bought the game new (not very often this gen), thinking I'd never go far as I s**k bad at FPS usually, and got absorbed by the storytelling and graphical style, chose to save all the little sisters, and was rewarded by it in the story and in the game, and played one of the better game experience this gen.
I can only regret Microsoft's horrible way of manipulating people, and the fact that the game could have been better if released on PS3 only.

[ I know I can be moderated for the bad things I say against Microsoft, but thier methods are so horrible, and it's punished by law in France as "unfair competition" ... that is, if someone has the courage to get them to a court of law ]
No appeal at all. It has weird atmosphere with stupid characters , I'd suggest you save up for more worthy stuff since you're not into FPSsive been on the fence for a while with this game. friends keep tellin me to get it, but im not into the whole fps thing AT ALL. whats the appeal?

Why would someone rob themself of a great game just because its "linear"...if you want non-linear, thats what rpgs are for..i think its wierd people expect a non linear game in the form of a shooter because there aren't hardly any that im aware of( next to fallout and afew others). This game has multiple endings depdending on how you play and the choices you make, so it is not as linear as some think. The atmosphere in this game is astounding and sets the bar for suvival horrors. I picked it up from blockbuster for 5 bones used and i cant wait to replay it as a good character the next time around. truthiness1Just because the game is linear does not alter the fact that it's a decent game. I never once said that it was a bad game.
