I don't want to register with EA so I'm not gonna open it until I know. Otherwise I'll return it if I have to do anything with EA.

Nope. I never registered and got the Dragon PLate armor and the extra side missions. They become available after a little while of playing.

It says on the back "Activate the Cerberus Network* To Access Bonus Downloadable Content to access weapons, vehicle missions and more"

and below it says "*EA ACCOUNT AND GAME REGISTRATION WITH CERBERUS NETWORK CODE REQUIRED TO ACCESS ONLINE FEATURES AND SERVICES"

Maybe to get DLC that you pay for.

But I never signed up for anything and still got the Dragon Plate armor and the extra side missions. I think those are the only things that are included with disc though.

I'm not sure, my ps3 broke while I was making my first playthrough lol. But you do get the chance to get a lot, and I mean a lot of characters to add to your party. And most of them have side missions to unlock if you gain their respect. It's a good game, don't take it back.

What's the big deal? I mean you've already given them your money so...

I can just return it and get my money back. Plus it was out of the bargain bin.

Right, but you purchased it, so you have no problem having something to do with them, since you're willing to give them your money. So why is registering a big deal?

I bought my PS3 copy of the game near the end of January and the Cerberus stuff redeemed without issue, so I wouldn't put much stock in that date.

Really? That's good news. I was gonna buy it for someone but I didn't want her to miss out on the DLC.

When I bought my copy for $20 a few months ago, I noticed that the piece of paper with the code on it had an expiration date. Assuming all DLC codes have that same date, it has already passed and you couldn't download it for free anyway.

Yup. Further proving that ME2 was a bad purchase decision and will continue to be.

@EllieStranger ...But it is a fantastic game! Shouldn't that be all that matters? If you return it just for the sake of your hatred of EA, then you are missing the point.

Well, with EA you never really know. There may also be some people who had no luck - I remember back when I redeemed the boob DLC for the Saboteur about a year past its expiry date, it went through just fine, but someone else had theirs fail.
