My mother actually bought a PS3 for my kids to play when they visit her and it came with MGS4. I thought about getting this game but didn't get around to it. I've been spending all my time with COD4 and Guitar Hero... should I check it out? I never managed to get into GTAIV.

Why did you bother to make this topic? Do you not have any free will? Seriously, if you have both a PS3 and MGS4 on hand why do you have to check it by strangers on the internet before playing it? You could have already booted the game and made your own opinion in the time it took you to write this...

And what do you have to be a total tool? Obviously by saying I've got a couple of kids indicates I'm an adults and I don't have a TON of time to play games. I mostly stick to COD4 and Guitar Hero and Rock Band with my kids.... so I was asking for opinions. If you don't like the post then don't freaking read it and CERTAINLY don't feel the need to respond. Jesus...

Asking for random peoples permission to play a game surely makes you the tool... Anywho, like i said, if you dont have the time manage it, like, you know, actually playing the game instead of asking if you should play it...

Just answer the man's damn question by giving your own opinion and be on your way, jesus christ. He clearly said "should I check it out?" not "CAN I check it out?" that would be asking for permission.

i've got 2 kids myself and had never played a MGS game before (besides the MG game on the NES). i've gotta say, even though i'm not done with it yet (i'm on Act 4), this is one fine game. the story is completely convoluted to me, since i hadn't played the other games in the series, but you can also download this thing called the Database or something like that off of PSN. it has a timeline that really helped me SOMEWHAT grasp what the hell was going on in this story. while i'm not going to get the same experience as people who have played all of the games before it, i am still thoroughly enjoying my time with this game and it will be probably the third or fourth game in the past year or two that i've actually finished from start to end. when you've got kids, i think that is a testament to how good a game is...that you've got the patience to come back to a game again and again in the small bursts of free time that you have to actually play a game and actually finish it. doesn't happen often for me, but i WILL finish this one.

Thanks. That's what I was looking for. A ton of people recomended GTA and I put a few hours into and didn't get anything out of it. Time is fairly precious sometimes... I'll give it a look tonight.

you're welcome. hope you enjoy it. but, before you plop it in...i HIGHLY recommend that you find an hour to spend going through the timeline in the database thing. i know that sucks...reading for an hour isn't exactly what i want to do before playing a game, but if you haven't played the other MGS games, this will drastically increase your understanding (and enjoyment) of the story. it goes from appearing to be a goofy sci-fi story to becoming a pretty serious social commentary in some respects. the story is much more mature than the on-screen action/cutscenes let on, unless you understand how the story weaves in and out of actual historical events. pretty cool, imo.

I agree, if he's so busy, he could have just played the game instead of posting this topic, but being an adult don't guarantee common sense.

I wish I had some kids, that didn't die from SIDS
So my Mom would drop some gold, and the story could unfold
Of Solid Snake's return, in a world about to burn
From an evil twins control, of neo nazi's on patrol
So nano up machines, and recharge your sony sticks
Hideos latest effort has got the comp looking like *****

Definitely don't try it. It will make every other story-based game seem insignificant in comparison.
