Which would you pick?

For me, The Last Of Us all the way. I had great expectations for Infinite only to be disappointed by streamlined, sub par gameplay with a good story.

I made a risky purchase with TLOU despite the sour taste Uncharted 3 left. As the story progresses, it definitely delivers as a whole package. Good character development and NPC dialog. I even felt sorry for the people in the notes, lol.

I was extremely disappointed in BioShock Infinite.  I had to force myself to get through it.  And I'm a huge BioShock fan.  BioShock 1 and 2 are extremely high up on my list of all time favorites.  Infinite, though, I just didn't care for at all.

The Last of Us, wow.  What a masterpiece.  It actually took me two playthroughs to appreciate it the way I do now.  Playing it on Survivor is really the way this game should be experienced, IMO.  It's a different game, a different experience on survivor.

The Last of Us wins this one, for me personally, in an absolute landslide.

I still wouldn't crown The Last of Us GoTY just yet.  Still some incredible looking games coming out that will battle for that crown, at least for me.

Infinite lacked the amazement factor & plasmid (vigor) variety as which the first Bioshock had. I can't declare a winner yet (so I didn't vote) since I haven't completed it, but leaning towards TLoU. In conclusion, both games are great. I loved Infinite & the story was truly creative.

This is hard, I didn't care for either one. Didn't like the gameplay, found the stories predicatable. I liked the characters better in Bioshock but the entire middle part dragged on without adding much to the story and the game had way to much boring needless combat. I think I'll go with The Last of Us, I was never yelling at the game to end already like I was with Bioshock and the environments were nice and varied, they didn't have all the backtracking that Bioshock had. Also I didn't get to try the online in The Last of Us, so I might have liked that as well. I did run into a lot of bugs and glitches with The Last of Us though, effecting gameplay, sound, video, trophies, AI, etc.

I'll go with The Last of Us.

The Last of Us had a better paced campaign and gameplay in spite of the occasional odd quirk. Bioshock Infinite, while it had the more ambitious story and the trademark unique Bioshock artstyle, I felt it suffered from inconsistent pacing and way too many weak shooting bits that stood in the way of the few decent combat sections (although the weak gunplay is pretty much a problem I have with the entire series). In the end, I connected more with the characters and story of The Last of Us.

I preferred The Last Of Us. Better story, more "fun" gameplay, etc.

After being so late to finally swan dive the Bioshock franchise, I was super disappointed in Infinite after the epicness of Bioshock 1. Definitely one of my greatest gaming experiences this gen.

I feel like this might be more biased towards Bioshock Infinite since it's on a Sony forum hahaha xD. But this is a very difficult one, both are very great games, and both are definitely contenders for GoTY. And who knows, maybe GTA V might become a contender too.

I'm gonna go with The Last of Us :)

Bioshock Infinite was a good game, but heavily over rated. The Last of Us was much better imo.

Haven't played Last of Us yet but Bioshock Infinite was shockingly overrated. I agree with the poster above though, as I get the feeling GTA5 will be the GOTY winner.

Risky purchase... lol. But yeah, out of those two definitely The Last of Us for me.. Enjoyed the story and the gameplay more. When the year is over I doubt it either one will be GOTY though.

Not even my favorite Fire Emblem, certainly not favorite SRPG. But, yeah, that would probably be mine if I was considering all systems.

If you haven't played it, it is without question the best RPG this year. It's also my #3 pick for the entire gen out of close to 100 games I've played.

I have to go with Infinite. It had better story, better gameplay, and better characters. I loved TLOU, but the only area it is better in is the multiplayer, since infinite doesn't have it.

Fire Emblem 4, Fire Emblem 5, Fire Emblem 9, and probably 7 but I might be a little biased on that since not only was it my first Fire Emblem but one of my first SRPGs and that has now become my favorite genre. Fire Emblem 4 is probably my favorite, never actually finished 5 though.

I started with 9, and then 8 and 7. Didn't like SS too much for some reason. How does one go about getting FE games before 7 in the US?

lol Damn this guy really can't bring up TLOU without putting down Uncharted 3. I still think it's just as good as Uncharted 2. No idea why some seem so bitter about it. But back on topic, I have to go with The Last Of Us. While I certainly enjoyed Bioshock Infinite it didn't give me as much satisfaction as TLOU. The gameplay of TLOU was incredible without a doubt and every encounter was a treat.

i personally feel that the last of us was overrated by many because when i played i did see some technical errors with ellie but im not saying it is a bad game i just enjoyed the setting and story of bioshock more, you have to admit your jaw must have hit the floor the first time you saw columbia in the rocket

Not at all. I do not think any games opening of visuals made my jaw hit the floor, but many have made me have great experience of amazement and aw my first time playing. Infinite was not one of those games because I felt like I had seen it before. It is just like when people who played GOW 3 say that their jaws dropped during GOW Ascension. I am not amazed by an improvement in graphics and scale, but lack of improvement in mechanics.

Neither, GTA V is my Game of the Year.

Out of those games though, my vote goes to The Last of Us, because of both the fact that The Last of Us has a great story which does not require gameplay to be sacrificed and also for the obvious reason that I haven't played Bioshock Infinite.

they were both great games, but when you play bioshock infinite through and find all the easter eggs and such its so much greater. if you get the burial at sea dlcs, it links the whole of bioshock 1 and infinite together making 1 big story. this for me being a long term fan made my day. dont get me wrong the last of us is one of my favourite games but the links and story of infinite cannot be matched,

I would say that the themes in Infinite's story deserve praise, but not really every aspect of the story itself. Compared to Infinite, the story of the original deserves praise in every regard. This was a game of the year 2013 thread, its not fair to include the dlc for Infinite in to your choice.
