Gran Turismo 5 1080p @ 60fps confirmed

Just as past games in the series have pushed the PlayStation and PlayStation 2 to their limits, Gran Turismo 5 should be a system showpiece for the PlayStation 3. The pre-race screen shows your car being worked on by your pit crew in a garage, and these scenes will feature full HDR, ray-traced lighting. These scenes are stunning and easily rival anything pre-rendered footage could throw at the screen.

While the in-race lighting won't be quite as nice, expect this to be the best looking racing game you've ever seen. The studio promises 1080p support at a full 60fps, though it says that feat isn't easy. But if anyone can do it, it's Polyphony Digital.

Good find, I like people who post links to their facts, trying to give everyone the news. I'm pretty happy it's going 1080p since alot of games on PS3 don't and I wish they would. I have a 42" 1080p tv and love the way it makes my games for PS3 look. It's also great to hear it's going to be 60fps, unlike Madden's crap fest for PS3 (Cry me a river EA, you know good and well you could have made the PS3 60fps if you had tried to learn the PS3). I'm glad some developers are actually giving an effort in making games run good, look great, and play well thus showing the PS3 is easy once you learn how it works. The GT series has always been my favorite racing game and hope it doesn't come out really soon, I still haven't beaten my 3 other PS3 games I have and September is looking to be a promising game release month ;)! Can't wait for Gran Turismo to come out, hopefully we will get more teaser pics of the game in action soon!da1writer

no problem just dishin out the goods for my fellow ps3 owners and btw GT5 is probably slated for a spring 08 release and in a loaded 08 lineup. i agree with you about EA dropping the ball on madden 08 they should go back to school and take notes from these guys.

LMAO, this website I must say has a few bunch of comedians around here. Seriously though, you have to look at it this way, there are fans of Gran Turismo and Halo Fans.

Offtopic: I kinda don't see what is so special with Halo, I played it and have Halo 1 and 2 on my pc and they collect more dust than my Nintendo DS. Halo 3 just looks like a slight upgrade of Halo 2 and don't think I'm hatin on Microsoft because I just don't like them, I personally think Gears of War is the coolest First person Shooter for 360 and actually beats it.

Anyway, Some people believe GT5 is just a slight update of GT4, which may be true. GT4 looked excellent for it's time and I don't know how you could improve but I'm sure they will find a way. Overall, Gran Turismo has it's fanbase and people will buy GT5 no matter what, just like the Halo Fanbase will buy Halo 3.

Us PS3 owners look forward to it as the only descent racing game I've seen on the PS3 so far have been Formula 1 and Ridge Racer 7. Something new has to come to peek our racing/driving simulation side of us. Many of us may not have the money to buy a Dodge Viper but Gran Turismo grants that wish virtually to grab that car!

Note: I do look forward to Burnout Paradise and Dirt though, just like youTh3James ;)! Thumbs down goes toNeed 4 Speed because of EA, sorry.

Sorry about that, Th3James. I sometimes jump on my soap box and just was comparing the fanbase to Gran Turismo and Halo are near the same aka no matter how many games come out for them, the fanbase will get them none the less.

The game will also feature Ferrari and F1 cars for the first time in a Gran Turismo game (although F1 cars were unlockable in GT3 and GT4). Another key feature is the inclusion of changing weather within the game, literally during a race. The game is expected to feature even more vehicles than the 700 found in Gran Turismo 4. Because its realistic as far as driving that specific car the guy who makes GT (GT fans dont kill me because i forgot his name :? ) tries his best to make sure that each car has its limits as to its realistic counterparts as for the why the cars dont get destroyed and stuff probably is because the car develepors dont want to see their master pieces broken to smitherens and he probably would destroy cars just to make it realistic. :P One more thing car efficianados most likely don't wanna see there favorite cars blown to smitherins.

i think the gt series has a pretty good physics engine.. it seems realistic to me.

Uh, you think RR7 and Formula 1 are the only good racing games for PS3? WTH? Ever heard of Motostorm? We also got GTHD back in December and we are also getting Wipeout HD for the futuristic racing fans.

But we all know Polyphony. 2008 is like a fairy tale. 2009/2010 is more real, I remember waiting for GT4. Man was it a sucky time. GT 4 is great, and with all the new stuff, GT5 will be better. All Im fearing now is the new license tests :(. I hope that it has some transfer possibility for extra stuff as with GT3 and GT4.

I guess its not included because most of the fans of it, myself included, like the cars for what they are and hate all the flashy designs given by the paintjobs, and the vynils, etc.

But see, customization SHOULD be optional, to interest some people, but at the same time not P.O. some of the hardcore GT fans.
