What I think is amazing is that Europeans got it before you Americans. :lol:
Anyway, I haven't bought it yet but it looks amazing!
As far as right now I would have to say it does deliver for $40. The racing is awesome and well you already know about the graphics, but it does look great. Only down side is probably there is only match making for the online modes with absolutely no lobby system at all. Which sucks cause you jump into the race and race then thats it you search again lol. Also they need to fix the rear bump speed burst that slows me down thing lol but other than that its been a blast so far been playing all morning.
Biggest improvements hoped for in GT5 will be lobbies for online, and I wish there was a hard core mode so if you wreck you wreck none of this ghosting that goes on now. But GT5 I guess will have more tracks and cars but as of right now I'm happy and will get alot of play out of this GT5P so $40 was worth it.
Picked mine up yesterday, I don't know why, but it takes forever for it to install, also there are bugs that I can see already, especially on the nascar track, what's being displayed in the rear view mirror is all jacked up. But the game is fun, not sure if it's worth 40 bucks though.
I'm waiting for the full game. Plenty of other titles to save up for this summer.SKaREO
Was thinking the same thing.

Same here. Huge fan of the GT series. I dont want half the game now when I can just wait a year for the full thing.
Never really tried the series. How is it, let's say compared to Motorstorm?I love it. It's really great. I played it for about 7 hours last night trying to unlock the budget cars. If you have a force feedback wheel or just love cars I highly recommend getting this game. I love the new in car view and how it's modeled after the real thing. I also love how each car drives totally different. They didn't just put a new paint job them.. If it's worth $40 that's really your decision. It doesn't have a lot of content, but I can see myself easily putting 40-50 hours into this maybe more.
I guess a good way to put it is... If you just want to "win" the game then it's probably not worth it. But if you enjoy experiencing the different vehicles and you enjoy trying to beat your lap times it's worth every penny. I highly suggest playing in simultation mode and turning off all the assists if you want the full racing experience.
Sorry for the wall of text, that's my mini review :)

Never really tried the series. How is it, let's say compared to Motorstorm?Motorstorm and GT are exact opposites. GT is all about realism and simulation racing. Motorstorm is more of an arcade racer. I've been playing Need for Speed lately and it was a big adjustment last night to play GranTurismo, I kept flying off the track at first because you can't take corners nearly as fast and you can't stop nearly as fast. GranTurismo is much more authentic.
mmm im lovin it, just wish i could play on a giant 1080p screen instead of my 22" 720p :( Goitta say the in-dash view mode is amazing, and I love how the drivers hand moves down when your suppose to shift.
I rearranged my controls so that:
R2=Accelerate
L2=Brake
RightAnlaog Stick Up/Down = Shift Up/Down
And the face buttons are my active tweaking menu.
And im using my new dualshock 3, mmmm mmmm. Good buy to hold me over till GTA4.
I have to put my thoughts on this once again. The online aspect is no where close of being a SIM and right now how I feel, please do not call GTP a SIM. Its no where close of being one. Atleast for online the game needs to account for damage, don't have to show the damage but atleast slow ya down or finally break ya down. But right now online racing is a joke. People plowing ya with no regards just to put you into the wall, people rail riding around corners at near wide open speeds. I love the game but the online needs to be fixed.
Also is there away to invite friends? I have not ran across that as of yet so if its there please post away. As you can see my experience with the online aspect of GTP was a very frustrating one.
If you want the only true racing sim then you need to get Nascar Racing 2003, or maybe even GT-R but please ease up on the GTP is a SIM deal.

uhh... :| ok...that was pointless and stupid. congrats though kid. happy for you.
anyway...i picked it up. it's incredible to lookat and gives a good idea of what the full game will be like but it's a glorified demo at best. the cars look amazing but 6 tracks and no customization means we got jipped. it's cool to have a bare bones racing title that shows off my hdtv but it's not a GT game.

I agree that online is not a sim in any way but the single player most definitely is. I have had this game for a few weeks now and still enjoy it very much but I rarely even bother going online for the reasons you mentioned. The idiots that just ram you and cheat by rail hugging just flat out ruin it for me and any other true gamers. I dread to think what it's like now with North Americans having their hands on it!
I like the game alot, so far. But after an hour or so of playing I'm through the C class races, and really don't see this title taking more then a handful of hours to beat. Online races have been smooth, but feel tacked on and the lack of damage makes for an all out bumper car bonanza. Not being able to upgrade my cars doesn't bother me as much as I thought it would.
Overall I'm glad I have the game, but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone that isn't a hardcore racing fan. I can't really see myself popping this game in say a month or two down the road.
As for a point of contention... I think the gfx are certainly the best of any racer on the market, but anyone that thinks they are leaps and bounds crisper then PGR4 and even Forza 2 they are kidding themselves. They are alot closer then i was expecting.
