DD was one of my favorite games for the PS1..
I don't know how it would implement well if it compromised the physics model...In DD I remember I wanted to crash into another car..If you are penalized to heavy I think it would affect the core game play of DD mode
I don't understand how people can still think the reason damage is held up is because of manufactures reluctance to have their vehicles banged up.....The same high end manufactures have "allowed" damage in at least 5 other games...Why would they now turn into a "nope we cant allow damage because it will affect our brand"

I think the manufactuer in question is Ferrari, since they are not in any other game with damage. All it takes is one, it would be pretty dumb if cars from a particular brand were immune to damage.

Ahhhh..that's not true...Even Ferrari Challenge has damage..not to mention FM and FM2
I doubt they could get the damage to be as realistic as we would all hope- think about how much detail there is in the game now, plus the amount of cars and tracks. Considering they are all about 'the real simulator' or whatever their slogan is I couldn't see them adding a demolition derby mode.
Mind you I think it would be freakn awesome. Maybe they could have a crash test mode where you drive into cement blocks etc etc like they do in life. Just to show off the physics (I am dreaming about realistic damage)

Dude there is a big difference with a simulator and an arcade game...in a sim manufactures give allsorts of detail to developers to make it as realistic as possible...in arcade the give a body and maybe interior and the rest is down to he developer so yes it's a big deal to them
damage has its issue...like in GTA4 did anyone notice the yellow band on the steering wheel? There was a in car view but they scraped it...when the car takes damage the interior gets bent out of shape...so the driver animations wont work...I could go on and on
I have all GT's but really it never seemed to be 100% real to me. Its impossible to really do a donut which i know sounds dumb but you cant. You also cant do any kind of drifting around corners and im not talking about arcade drifting but drifting by using a ton of extra power to spin the tires around a turn. Also there have been a few times hitting the wall where i should of flipped over and over but you never ever do. So i hope that now that really make things much more "realistic" than ever before.Kurushio
Dude im with you all the way!!! Why cant the wheels spin in GT??? totally unrealistic
DD in GT series? That will not happen..
Gran Turismo is very much different in its approach, I personally believe no car damage is needed but if they do make one, I hope it does have options to not use it..
I had been enjoying GT for the last 9 years and Kazunori should continue to do what he always does. Â

Did you quote me by accident? Because your post has absolutely nothing to do with the premise of my comment...

Yeah I did...I didnt want to write a novel in the forums...but I was saying that bmw for example let arcade games smash their cars... because its not a simulator... the cars in an arcade game share nothing in common with their real life counter parts ( apart from looks) so its easier for bmw to agree on damage when its all for fun...but for a simulator it takes a whole lot of cash to convince them to damage the cars...since its trying to be as close to the original as possible...they take safety very seriously( air bags should deploy, crumple zones..etc) so having damage might put of buyers ( stupid I know but hay people blame GTA for shootings in schools) so hope I didn't offend you and have a nice day sorry for the wall
