1. That will do nothing for pixelation/blurry graphics
2. Not all TVs support these features

what your seeing is one of two things.

1. The graphics engine is poorly optimized.

or

2. The PS3, along with the 360, is incapable of actually running the game the way they had originally ended.

Given Rockstar spent millions on this and even delayed release, i'll let you decide which one you think it is. If

it is the first reason, in theory a patch can come out to iron out some of the problems. If it is the second reason,

which I think is more probable....well, then we just deal with it. I find the graphics in GTAIV even more irritating than

the popin in Mass Effect. And that says alot. I play GTAIV on my PS3 though and other than the graphics, amazing

game.

I had the same reaction upon fireing up the game on my PS3... it looks awefully aliased compared to all these great videos I've been seeing on the net.

I think the answer lies in going to the display options of your PS3 and manually removing the 1080 options, so that the game will run at 720p. GTA IV on the PS3 outputs at 640p, so that if you have the 1080's as options then the PS3 will automatically scale its output to the best option available, usually 1080p, depending on your TV. With those modes out of the equation, the game will only stretch up to 720p and will look a lot better.

Of course, this means that if you have a game that outputs at a higher res than 720p, you'll have to get in there and change the display modes back. A pain in the ass, but better than having Liberty City look like a jaggie mess!

The PS3 does not upscale the games for you. If you have all resolutions checked off and the game is meant to run at 720p, then you are getting 720p. The way to trick the system into outputting 1080p, is to uncheck 720p and 1080i and then you get "1080p".

If you have a HDTV and correct settings it looks fine.
