Graphics: Fallout 3 vs Oblivion

Fallout 3 came out over a year after oblivion and its using an upgraded form of the engine, yet the graphics look worse to me. there are more jaggies and the environments dont look as detailed to me , plus oblivion was a lot more colourful. which graphics do you think look better

I would have to say Fallout's graphics looks better. However I find that I prefer the way Oblivion looks, i find it more pleasing to the eye than fallout.

I guess walking around in a barren wasteland with pretty much the same broken buildings and cement wasn't doing anything for me. Sewers and tunnels all looke pretty much the same.

Wow! I'm a bit surprised. I loved both games a lot, and technicaldetails aside, I found the world of Oblivion to be MUCH more visually appealing to my eye.

I think Oblivion seemingly looks better because things are generally "prettier" if you will. Fallout 3 is supposed to look dark, gritty, dirty, and lifeless and therefore generally more unappealing. I can guarantee that the characters look a million times better in Fallout 3 and other minor details. The winner in my opinion is Fallout 3 hands down.

I was thinking about this when I was getting my lunch ready (I'm at work). Really wracking my brain, I now remember that the Fallout graphicsdefinitely ARE superior to Oblivion for sure. Still, Oblivion is much prettier in my opinion. I'll stick with Oblivion.:)

I think they're both ok. I mean, growing up from post Atari/pre-NES era seeing everything in between, I kind of expect "big games" to have a bit less graphical power to make up for the sheer size of it and what has to load on screen at the same time.

Though, since the last Fallout 3 patch a few months ago, "loading things" hasn't been too great. Kind of like "ghosts" who just appear :lol:

no offense to who ever thinks that oblivion looks better to the eye because its more colorful??? hello did u play fallout 3...the waste went thought nuclear war do u expect there to be pritty flowers.....who cares about the envioroment fallout 3 is a way better game anyways
