GT5 First Review

GT5 received an 8.5 on ign. This looks a bit disappointing to me from all the waiting to this. It's funny how IGN gives a writtenreview and has a first impression video and the full review comes out next week. What do you guys think? Here the link to the review

Well this can't really be a good review as they probably on received It a few days ago. That's why I prefer GS as they take time to deliver an accurate review

How did IGN review the online? The online didn't come online until today lol. And they talked about a clumsy UI, I think the UI looks awesome and from what I've seen on the video preview from GS it is fairly easy to navigate.

Something else I'm seeing in reviews so far is that reviewers can't quite come to grips with that the game shines so much but when they come across things that are still better than anything out there but not as polished as the rest of the game they are dinging it.

I mean really, this is a huge game and I just don't think they are appreciating the amount of work that was put into it. Maybe next time poly will just do every thing hallf way so reviewers will fall in love with its consistancy lol.

I just do not trust this review, sure it may have its flaws but to give it a score less than they gave forza 2! Its just ...

Umm... I just found the review scores odd. It doesn't mean I'm going to vehmently state that I want GT 5 to be perfect. I don't even like racing games. Then why did I post? Because I read the GT 5 review on Destructoid and thought that people should be aware that there is another review other than the IGN one that is out.

8.5 sounds reasonable enough to me

I don't understand reviewers should spend at least 2 weeks on a game before reviewing It that way hey can give an accurate review. I mean It's crazy how games like CoD get Instant praise but this game get's a crappy review. Absolute joke.

I got mine yesterday (preorder through the post) and so far I have to say I am quite disappointed - the graphics are good...but I'd expect that from a GT game - the online was poor (it was last night and servers might have only just been running a while) - no lag...but some quite boring races and the online interface isn't the best. The single player menu interface is a bit cluttered but I think you have the option to customize it. I did feel a bit underwhelmed with it when I finished playing last night...maybe when I start getting the better cars and unlocking more stuff I might see it differently.

I agree, now that i've seen the final product of the past 6 years I can only think of one thing. Polyphony should have went for quality over quantity.

Thank God I didn't preorder this. Already payed for the demo, which was meh. And this is coming from a guy who finished 3 out of 4 previous GT's. I'll wait untill it goes plat and get it for 12$.

Also one question: Did they finally add AA to the final game?

The GT5 prologue was jaggy as hell!

I don't care for GT5 because I know it'll sell billions, but man am I surprised. An 86 metacritic? I was sure it was gonna top Forza 3. Also, IGN said its graphics are worse than Modern Warfare 2's graphics.Guaracy-

Meh, I'd figured this game would have some issues. Still, I think this will be one of those games that people don't like at first but then we'll look back a year from now and say yeah, that game was pretty darn good.

Unnecesary cars? are you frickin kidding me unnecesary cars? Its like saying dead rising 2 has too many unnecesary zombies.

Overhyped game = overhyped game. I'm sure it's fun for some and the physics and graphics are pretty, but they recycled tracks, have too many slow unnecesary cars, have not implemented damage. and there is no sense of speed. Taking a review from IGN seriously is a joke... A PS3 exclusive review is even more funnier!
Seriously... I saw that coming, IGN and Gamespot are both bribed by Microsoft to screw the PS3's face on their reviews.

We all know Gamespot's review of GT5 will completely bash the game because of the minor flaws it has, and hell will they punch the game in the face with arguements such as: "Not all cars have inside camera gameplay", "not all cars have damage", "not all tracks have weather/time change effects" and "20% of the cars are premium and the rest is a copy-cat of GT4".I mean c'mon..Do you really expect a Blu-Ray disc to hold that much content? Plus, to make ONE photograph real looking car took them 3 months... Think about it when doing the review Gamespot.

I'd like to see anyone do better than PD when it comes down to creating console simulators. And yes, GT 5 IS better than Forza 3, but aren't we all sure that Gamespot will choose a reviewer that hates the game, or a 360 fanboy, to review the game?

My bet on GT5's final score is 7.0-8.5
MAX they will give is a 9 which I doubt, but don't we all know GT was and always will be a 10.0 no matter what anybody says?


Seriously, if you want real opinions read European Reviews/European Player Reviews, not 'cause the PS3 has more love than the 360 there, but because they're not bribed by effing Microsoft, therefore, they actually play the game before trash talking (looking at you IGN.).
I mean, how long have they played GT5? 3 hours and then review? IGN is pure trash today.. and Gamespot is headed the same way..

Thing about GT(the series) is that it's a very closed up game, if you're not a fan, you'll hate it, if you're a fan you'll like it and some will love it with sense (other than loving the game just because yes, a.k.a, no sense). And GT 5 is their most closed up games, they designed it for fans and fans only.

.. It has been said that GT 5 IS better than Forza 3(by almost...hum..everybody.), yet I don't doubt Gamespot will milk every single MINOR flaw the game has and make it look HUGE so they can lower the game's final score. If the game is better than Forza 3, it should get 9.5 +, but we all know that's not happening... But it's happening from me.

But I still have a little bit of hope that Gamespot will bring up a honest review of the game, why? They haven't released their final word on the game yet, unlike IGN.. They're actually analzying the game, playing the game to the core, checking online content, GT Mode, Arcade Mode, B-Spec and everything else, so I still have a little bit of hope that Gamespot will review the game very well, but who knows... it's Gamespot we're talking about.
