Yea, kind of. Some also call it a demo of the future full game. 60 cars 8 tracks (give or take a few) for 40 bucks. Should be a good deal.

I'm going to let you know what it will include:

Prologue will include 60 vehicles, along with 14 additionally tuned cars, racing across six tracks, each with two layouts. The game will also feature split-screen racing in addition to the 16-player online races. The game will be released on April 17 for $39.99 on Blu-ray disc or via a direct download on the PlayStation Store.

Note that UK version will be on this month of March 28th and worldwide on April 17th.2008

The tracks will include Suzuka Speedway, Eiger Nordwand, Fuji Speedway, London City Track, Daytona International Speedway, and High Speed Ring. The list of features is likewise intense:

  • Drift Mode—The player's drifting technique is measured based on drift angles, racing lines, and speeds within evaluation zones located at various turns on the course.
  • In Depth Car Tuning—Players have the ability to adjust the vehicle's performance, including power, weight, tires and suspension.
  • Two-player Split Screen Racing—Allows players to race head-to-head against friends and foes offline.
  • New Race Events—New racing events and time trials are available for players to race both offline and online. Gran Turismo 5 Prologue supports up to 16 players racing online simultaneously.

You will also have A new in-cockpit view features real-time gauges and human animations that accurately represent the true performance and handling of each vehicle, more dynamic and adjustable Artificial Intelligence, a user homepage called My Page and a new physics engine.

GT5 Prologue will also include Gran Turismo TV, a world of motoring TV programming including the BBC's Top Gear.

You can also head here for complete knowledge of Grand Turismo 5 prologue as well as tips of how to became better driver.

This is a full fledged game and not a demo. You name me a realistic racing simulator that has full support for 16 player online racing.. Of course this is not the full GT5 but a prologue, however it can stand alone as super racer before the full version is out. If you need any info please ask here or on my blog. :)

Alot of people are just saying that it is nothing but an expensibe Demo, but the dev's have updated it to have FULL CAR SPEC CUSTOMIZATION, which is awesome, other than that it looks awesome, and the new in-car view looks freakin' sweet.

A lot of people are arrogant, misinformed and uneducated and like to voice their opinions in such manners. Then again, just how much "truth" and helpful information can you get from 90% of Internet forums population, I do agree with you - new cockpit view is phenomenal :)

I think that people calling this a demo is wrong. maybe the track count is down only 6 or 12 depending on how you look at it. but i've played plenty of racing games where the final thing only had 20/30 cars. the game itself is 1/2 of a normal game, and should be treated as such. Quick question, is there any other 16 player online racing games for the ps3? especially at 1080p!
