I have the Expansion packs to GTA4, my friend is going to buy GTA 4, I was wondering if I could play against him online even though I'll have the Expansions and he'll have vanilla GTA 4?

Why don't you just buy GTA 4 or convince him to buy episodes, its not like they're expensive anymore.
