I remember gta 1 and 2. even on the ps1 they looked like snes gfx, but was still fun as hell to play
The graphics don't look that good. But maybe it's just the art style. GTA games are more know for the gameplay and cool narratives. Same thing with games like bully. Didn't look great but had interesting gameplay and a cool story. Also the acting is usually very top notch.
Cars, environments, and lighting are looking to shape up nicely, but character models are only okay. But like someone else said, GTA's gameplay makes up for it.

Compared to all the other games out there, GTA4 doesn't have that great graphics. Still, the game will be great as they always are. Gameplay is what makes them live.

But to address the initial question, I think you intentionally or unintentionally make a good point. Maybe in this version of GTA or any current game, they don't quite reach a nearly perfect graphical level and therefore my brain personally still makes an obvious distinction between game world and real world. So I would still have no confusion. But what about games in 2015 or 2020 or however long it takes to get 3D graphics so real it fools our brains into thinking it is real? I guess we would still know we were playing a game, but I could see it having a more dramatic effect on our emotional reactions by making the fantasy world very believable.

Well after reading that it's safe to say neither do you ..
i get what you mean about graphics looking more realistic. and you do make a point that it would be weird shooting a guy's head that looks pretty realistic.. :o then again movies do that..
but every one is missing the pointtt err im just saying that the graphics on gta are way diffrent from previous gta's n since the boost in graphics its just weird ... cars that look like cars that have wheels on the ground ... guns that look like guns... ppl that looks like ppl

I just hope the framerate and content doesnt suffer. I would rather have average graphics with perfect playability and tons to do like the old ones tbh
