As far as I can tell, GTA IV really did a great job with the driving controls. In fact, it's the best I've seen for a next gen title. The crucial aspect is the right analong stick camera control. Using it to look around corners as you approach them is such a great feature.

I've played other next gen racing games, but none seem to have the great control or camera work. I played the GRID demo, and I liked everything except the lack of camera control.

It's funny to think that Rockstar did this so well, considering that the game isn't really focused around driving/racing. Are there any games out there that have better driving controls than GTA IV?

Funny I have the exact opposite opinion, I thought the driving camera in GTAIV was so bad it was impossible to drive without using the right analog stick. Which I would have prefered not to use unless I really wanted to look round while in the car.

i guess u havent played enough racing game, GTA4 driving got to be the worse driving in any game i have ever played, driving in less than 30 frame per second is almost not playable, havent u played Burnout that game as alittle similar camera but its better in anyways when it comes to cars, and controls, and by the way Grid sucked i would just wait for GT5 instead.

I think the cameras good aslong as you keep it as clos to your car as possible, thats the best view imo.

I liked the driving in GTAIV but not because of the camera, that was a help to see around corners but then you couldn't see in front of you while doing that.

I just thought it was the right mixture of realism and arcade, unlike GRID which was totally unrealistic and difficult.

What the TC is trying to say and you guys have to look at it at this angle .......... that this game is a sand box type game so with all the content in it and the driving in it, he is just expressing his opinion on GTAIV's driving. I'll have to agree though that GTAIV's is one of the best "Driving in a car" out of all of the other GTA's i've played. There is like actual weight to it and stability which seems as if your really lugging around a 2 ton car lol ( so to speak ) so i can understand where the TC is coming from......

i think some people dont like it cause th cars weight actually suhifts (realism?) so it;s a bit harder to manuever.

I agree that driving in GTAIV was done pretty well, but its not neccessarily the best in all the next-gen games, don't forget we have GT5P here.

saints row has the best driving controls of any sandbox game imo. so much better than gta, but that is because it was more focused on driving than gta. gta4 just has terrible turning bases on the cars, that was my only problem with the driving.

Well, I like that I can do a reverse 180 in GTA4, but in general I'm disappointed with the driving controls. In my opinion it's worse than any racing game out there, except of course for Ridge Racer.

I liked the driving controls in GTAIV after i got used to them. Well except for the bikes cause well its pretty near impossible to drive a bike in LC(at medium to high speeds). Not to mention there only like 5 types of bikes NGR, PCJ, Angel, Scooter, and the crappy chopper. I really would've liked to see some variety but i guess its kinda hard to have a variety because each will look very similar.

And I like how they did driving physics so well. When you accelerate the hood of the car raises up, and when you deccelerate the hood of the car goes down and your view goes down (if you use the first person view in teh car.) The physics are pretty realistic.

Yeah I always use the right analog stick to see what's in front.
