GTA IV: LC based on NY the reason behind no planes??

if they were really shooting for accuracy with NYC, then it wouldn't make sense.  No one buys a plane ticket to go from the Bronx to Manhattan, so why should airports exist to do such a thing.

Also the issue of 9/11.

They needed the plain in SA because of the one overseas mission.  That's really the only reason. 

I will say though, I always had a good time flying over restricted airspace and just sitting there until they blew me outa the sky. lol

in SA, you would be stupid to tell me it wasnt fun to take a plane into the sky and just fly around and land at an airport or jump out of the sky

Yea it was fun for like 5 mins, then I got bored and wanted to actually play some missions.  Even the one time when you need to fly the plane, it was annoying.

When they're shooting to create a virtual NY basically, its unnecessary to have planes anyway.  The map will be smaller than SA anyway.

They dont want 9/11 mimicking, this country has become too sensitive and political. for example there was a college football team that painted the visitors locker room in their stadium  completely pink as a joke to whomever they were playing at home. The activists went crazy

Who cares if its unnecessary? Beating up a 70 year old woman with brass knuckles or a crow bar isn't necessary, but it's part of the GTA series. If they only put what was "necessary" into those games they would be  just like any other lame action game. Flying was one of the best parts of SA, the great F-14 at the hangar, the jetpack, skydiving over Vegas... it doesn't make any sense to just take it out. Vice City and San Andreas were released after 9/11 and they both had planes. Once again its probably just Rockstar's hype machine, wait until some REAL info is released, not just "Game Informer makes up a scoop to have something to write about".

Probably smaller in size because of the 360, but noone official will probably talk like that.

as long as there choppers i'm at ease with the lack of planes, it sure would have had some great possibilites, there will probably be more building with parachutes to jump off though

I wouldn't say they were *completely* fictional. San Andreas had landmarks pretty close to LA, SF, and Vegas. Not sure about Vice City, though.

i agree that its pretty retarded to remove it. the whole reinactment of 9/11 doesnt really make sense when there's WW1 and WW2 games coming out...i mean wouldnt those make all those war veterans and jewish ppl who suffered feel bad? come on man be a bit rational. its done now. just pray for their souls and move on. put the planes in the game. tho i must say the guy who said since NY doesnt really have intercity plane travel itd be pretty weird to have em...but seriously like that matters? lol. just treat it lightly guys

isnt the game set in liberty city and NOT new york, so its just fiction, right? so why no airplanes? they were da bomb in san andreas.

I think people need to seriously let go of the 911 issue. Yes... we'll always remember that it was a horrible terrorist tragedy that killed hundreds... but we shouldn't let that alter movies/games/other media. The first Spiderman movie was altered to take out the towers because of the 911 disaster. Many other forms of media followed and now GTA IV is joining the list... that is retarded. Frankly I dont care who it offends. Maybe if someone were to get offended over someone flying a digital plane into a digital bulding, maybe they shouldn't play that game. Heck... I could fly planes into buildings on San Andreas... not like there was building dammage. Sure... it's the first GTA for the new generation, but I highly doubt that they will have building dammage to that scale if at all. AHHHHHH - in SA one of my favorite things to do was fly around it was ACE!! Then skydiving + parachuting? I was anticipating more variety of planes, not no planes at all?!?! if this is official ive reallly been put off, i mean yeah driving aaround is cool, and boats are okay.. but was I the only one who got bored of the lack of variety in Vice City??

SA was such an amazing game for me because it had EVERYTHING you could think of [within reason].

I respect that this is an act of good and respect, but since when has rockstar shown respect?! Thats why we love them, because they arent afraid to put stuff in their games.. And do not get me wrong I feel a great deal of sympathy and respect for those innocent people who lost their lives in 9/11, but guys this is a video game??

They should not put planes in it becasue its based on NY city. It will entice possible future attacks from them. And besides it is not ideal to have planes in it since terrorsist will be having a good time playing the game and practicing where and how to crash the planesprimo101

what???? you think terrorists play videogames in their "free" time?????? omg!!!!!! this is crazy.... and plus even if you practice crashing planes into buildings that doesnt make you a better "terrorist" or a better plane pilot.....dude its a game... if they put planes it doesnt mean that terrorist will have some kind of training....to prepare them for a real plane crash..hauahuahuahua immagine that.... terrorist before they want to crash a plane they need to play 30 hours of GTAIV or GTA SA so they are fully trained....hihihi...
