GTA IV - Online?

I play the game pretty regularly online, don't have any PS3 friends. :S

you know for GTA IV.. are there any dedicated servers?? when will they be up??

because it seems that you have to have friends who have the game to play online.. (there are no servers just available for anyone to join - for example on the PC games such as 'counter strike' have a variety of dedicated servers..

PC games have lots of dedicated servers becuase people/clans put up their own money to run it, or pay a subscription. GTA4 probably won't ever get dedicated servers for becuase it would involve Sony fronting costs of it without ever seeing a penny of it back.

Can you play the game online with random players?? if so.. how?

or do you have to have friends to invite you to games in order to play online.. because it always says '2 or more freinds needed to play this mode'
