Well, when I first popped in my GTA IV disc and started playing the game ran very well.

But now the framerate has gotten bad and there's alot of pop-up. I mean, entire buildings are popping in. All this is happening even in spite of the install.

Why has the performance deteriorated so much? Is there anything I can do about it?

It depends on your TV, I got a 5 grand LCD, and it still is laggy and glitchy, and everything isnt kind of "right". But you got to live with you.

How does it have anything to do with the TV? The game was running fine initially.

Pop-up and framerate hitches means the system is reading information from the disk too slow.

I want to know if anyone has a remedy to this.

your TV has jack to do with pop up or Frame rates. it may be do to more things opening up and being add as you progress therw the game. i cant say as im not that far along. could be a bit of coruption going on in the game files. try reinstalling the game but keeping or backing up you saves.

how well ventillated is your system. Does this happen as soon as you turn your game on or after playing for awhile, maybe your system is getting a little too hot

I've noticed framerate issues from the beginning, as for pop ins I seem to be noticing them more and more, but only ever distant buildings.

Well, it didn't happen when I first bought the game and now it's happening all the time, from the moment I turn the game on to the moment I turn it off.

As far as ventilation, I keep my PS3 on the floor. Does elevation keep it a bit cooler?

Pop up happen ever so slightly ever since the beginning of the game I'm at about 50% pt of the game. Now frame rate issue can get bad especially if your just trying to see how many cops you can get on screen and kill lol. I do that alot, just to much fun and it can cause some serious frame rate drops with cops, swat vans and the fbi showing up to put a cap in your ass lol.

No offense, but did you ever thing these "issues" are just the way the game normally is? Albeit, if you get a ton of cars on the screen, the framerate isnt magically going to stay static...the more stuff on screen, the lower the framerate.

They may well be how the game normally is, but does that make it any better, I know low framerates when I see them.

You're problems probably are that you have chosen a resolution on you're PS3, that doesn't work well with you're television...

Ex: you have 1080i resolution (Full HD) on you're PS3, while you're televizion only measures up to the standard television gaming requirements.

I didn't choose a resolution, I think I'm on the default resolution.

Look at you're graphic settings on the PS menu screen and it'll come up four-five different resolutions i think. My GTA didn't work at all until i adjusted my resolution to the TV screen.
