Sort of like playing GTA3 with revised graphics and helicopters.Reshun_9
I've played it before on a friends 360. Didn't do any missions or anything, just ****** around, but it was fun. I just want to know how well multiplayer works and if the game is worth $60 overall.
Its a game that gets REALLY boring imo. Its the same(except fotr the few changes liike shooting and driving) thing as all the past games and i thought i would be into it, but after playing gta3, VC, and san andreas it just felt old. Its funny you brought this up because i was thinking of trading mine in to gamestop for $30 tommorow.
The sandbox gameplay is cool but ive grow to like some structure in my games and slightly more linearization. I wouldnt pick it up for the full $60 but its defiently fun to play for a while.
I'd say it sucks, i really wish i didn't buy it. Too repetitive and i don't like the action. After about 20 hours gameplay, i went back to MGS4.
This is just my opinion tho.

That's pretty much it.
Well at least it feels more New York I'd say.
Also the game is much slower. It takes too many "social" breaks, without giving you much choice to do anything during these social meeting. Little dating sim would've made it more interesting by having some choices of what to say and interact with them.
Also even if you do go through these social developments, you end up feeling like you are just wasting time so you can unlock something instead of getting to know more about the characters.
I think Rockstar employees should play some dating sims before they try social things next time. they need to do some research.
I still play the online mode alot with my friend and don't have any problems with it. Only thing I hate about it is auto aim is on, but other than that the game is fun to play.
If you could score it for 40 then get it.
a rental? yes. a purchase? not so much stick with san andreas the content will keep you much busier. Plus you could put that extra 35 bucks you just saved towards mgs4!!!longhorn7
I own San Andreas already. MGS4 only interests me because of it's production value and gameplay since I haven't played a Metal Gear game since Metal Gear Solid for the Playstation.
i'd say give it a miss.
The controls are slow, clunky and just don't fel fluid enough, especially when you compare it to games like Gears, Uncharted and MGS4. I could live with it if it didn't bother the gameplay much but the driving and shooting is just a pain to do.
The story is very slow and, even though touches on some 'deep' issues (for rocksta at least) its really rather unspectacular and soon becomes boring after the first 15 hours or so.
The social aspect is, in my opinion, a waste of space. You just end up babysitting these clingy people and taking them out becomes a chore. This is hightened when there is a real lack of things to actually do with your friends.
The online is broken and hardly anyone plays it. No one has a headset either.
But, underneath all that it's still a gta game. You can still do all the things you could in the old games, but i would advise you keep playing VC or SA. grittier graphics and russian accents isn't really worth £40

Everybody on these forums like to conform to the popular bashing of GTA4, just because it didnt live up to the crazy expectations they built up themselves. Other than maybe MSG4 (and i stress maybe),, this is the best single player game on the PS3. Hands down. The value for money here cant be beat. And everybody must have a crappy connection because i never have trouble finding an online game, and theres no lag.
Uncharted is great but is like 8 hrs long, and the replay value is low.. R&C is so easy that it'll bore you to tears.. you should already have COD4

IDK i went into the game looking for a new experience and got a better story, old gameplay(good or bad thing depending on who you are), repetitive missions, and even though it was a good game it didnt wow me.

It did wow me. You have to be able to pick out the minor details, which make GTA IV the best GTA to date. It's all in the details. The Euphoria physics engine really enables the player to feel like a real human being experiencing a real living and breathing city to explore. Of course, GTA is going to be similar to the past games, because in the end, it is a sequel. Look at DMC, look at MGS, look at Gears of War, look at God of War. All these games have sequels that offer basically the same experiences, but with a few tweaks, just like GTA IV, with the cover system, physics, advanced AI, and so on. It's all the small details that usually make a sequel great. If you're expecting a completely new or different game from a sequel, then you're expecting too much, but if you're expecting a more refined and definitive experience, then your expectations will most likely always be met.

Here is how I felt.
First, I thought San Andreas story was better. The way Niko ended up getting into criminal buisness.... I say didn't feel too realistic despite the fact the game tried to make it more realistic.
2nd, every new element Rockstar tried to add, I think failed miserably.
The police chase ended up becoming rather boring. Rarely I felt the rush of being chased because I knew if I just hold on to the gas long enough, and stay out of the zone I'm good to go.
Also the new "social setting" I think was major mess and slowed down the pace to boredom zone. If the social aspect of the game was more interactive, it might've been fun but it wasn't
And the cover mechanic I thought was very clunky.
Overall I felt the new stuff went against the game instead of working for it.

Yeah, sorry... I disagree with pretty much everything you said.
GTA IV is a decent game. There are a lot of flaws (glitches) I found in this game. GameSpot rated it a 10 and I sayis at best a 8.9
The story line is good and you can really get into it, and most of the missions are easy, if you use your head. The graphics are good, but not amazing. I liked the game, and I am a fan of the series. The game play makes it the best of the series, too.

Uncharted has very little replay value, lol, out of every single player game uncharted has the most replay value, you get headshots, rewards, finding treasures , and you can beat it in 4 different modes- crushing mode being the best, plus the trophies for the game is coming in pretty soon, so imo i rather have uncharted than gta iv any day of the week if you ask me only problem i had with uncharted is the "twist" at the end" and the throwing grenades with the six axis is pretty challenging, overall though uncharted is a better game than gta iv, so get uncharted first if you already have that get gta iv.
