I've heard that you can use cheats for some trophies, but if you use cheats it will prevent you from getting the story trophies. Can't fully confirm but if I was you I'd get them without, at least that's what I plan on doing.
glad to hear that the only cheats that you can pull off without disabling the trophies in GTA4 are the car cheats, as these are the only ones ive done im happy that i didnt get cheat crazy and rack up all the gunz and cash etc.
