hey i really need your help in trying to prove this theory of mine regarding the freezing problem with gta4 and older versions of the 60gb ps3s. now i know that alot of people have 60 40 and 80 gb ps3s that arent having the problem so please dont post here saying that you dont have a problem :D now i have an sdtv and i noticed that all of the people having problems with the ps3 on youtube also have sdtvs so i just wanted to know for those of you having the problem do you have an sdtv/hdtv and if hd is it running in standard def or 720p/1080i/1080p. this is a problem and i dont care if you havent heard about it or seen it there are a bunch of videos on youtube to prove it and since rockstar cant fix it then maybe we can. also if you have a ps3 60gig which you got in 2006/early 2007 then please tell us what tv and sd or hd thank you.

I don't know if it has to do with what kind of tv you use, but I have a 60gb and a Sharp Aquos HDTV and yes I have freezing problems once in a while on GTA IV.

I do have to say though my ps3 freezes more when I play Oblivion or Assassin's Creed though, so it's not just a GTA IV problem. It's a pain in the ass, but I just reboot my console and it's all fine.

Have you tried logging out of psn to play the single player campaign? I haven't had any freezing problems when I'm playing while logged off.

yes man, i even disabled the internet connection, and disabled the banner, unplugged the wire for my internet, and made sure i had no connection at all, and still get freezes. bro the agony i go through for ONE mission is unbelievable, i mean i have to at least reboot my ps3 manualy 6time or more just so i can pass one mission, i called sony, and R* they only told me about the stupid 12 steps that really doesnt work at least for me and few others i know. and only thing i heard from the rep. of R* they said they are aware of this problem with some ps3 users and they cant really say anythin cuz they dont want to give false info out, but they are workin on it to find out why there are some freezin issues

Damn well that just sucks! And calling sony isn't any help on matters like this, I learned that when one of the ps3 updates crippled my online for about 10 days. Sony was no help at all with that and it was their update that did it. Hope it gets worked out for you soon. I would go nuts having to having to re-do all the missions.

UMM YEA ummm Cheers?? :/ Um praise jesus!! lol I bought peanuts today also. Is that good?? Is that how were supposed to do it??

Im sure some of you get the joke, while the rest are the joke.

But in case theris a 3% chance the originalposter is serious. I did wite this on another thread

Kinda off topic but.

Well I cant agree. Althought the PS3 is built vary well do to learning over time. he old days. And their early machines were not so lucky. I had like PS1 after ps1 fry on me. Kinda like a 360 does now. Despite the cool system and games. It was kind a pain.

The PS2 faired a little better. "Unlike the 360" The second machine was a improvement. And I only went threw 2. With one being fixed. So 3 breaks, over like 6 or 7 years. When on the PS underground pannal, back in the days. When asked what was most important for a next gen machine. I said it has to be reliable. You cant have breakdown anxiety 24/7 while gaming. Its the worst. And even more so with higher end new machines.

And they have done that pretty well. Now that they have been in the game a while. Not only did they build a true next gen machine. They found a way to do it without rings or a 33% rate breakdown rate.

Yup i totally agree with you , my PS 3 also freezes sometimes while accessing GTA 4 mp or on single player if i'm connected to PSN . SONY n ROCKSTAR needs to deliver a effective patch now to curb the freezing problem ( i dunno wat the last patch really did , but i still get freezing on GTA 4 mp ) .While i'm not logged onto PSN i play GTA 4 just fine .

I should have got GTA 4 on Xbox 360 as none of my freinds including u face freezing problems on GTA 4 mp while logged onto XBL ( i should've taken ur advise :P ) , cmon SONY , we need a patch urgent , this is really getting annoying 4 me !!!

Ye , it has nothing to do with HDTV / SDTV or PS 3 console versions coz i also play GTA 4 updated on my HDTV and PS 3 having latest firmware updated plus rest of my PS 3 games works just fine on PSN .

GTA 4 PS 3 version has online issues ( freezing) and it needs to be fixed .

k this has been a pointless post as usual with these forums cuz i clearly stated people with the older versions of 60gb not 80 40 or any ps3 purchased in late 2007/2008 cuz they have revised hardware which obviously doesnt have a problem! i have a gta4 game i tried it on my friends 60gig which he got a couple of months ago and it worked fine at 720p but on my 60gig which i bought last year it freezes 5-10minuets into the game its nt a fkn online problem or some stupid psn **** its something else and yea it can have something to do with the resolution output not the tv specifically i cant really make up any bs to justify it but im desperate to find a solution if you dont have any problems just go play gta and stop telling me how stupid the idea is especially truenextgen with ur completely pointless post :D

Launch 60 gig...Unplayable. Same disk, same setup, on 2nd downstairs 20 gig just fine. Good thing I have two PS3's but bad thing I only play on the 60. The 20 is for my kids. My oldest, who is the only one to play it, keeps wanting to tell me stuff about it. I always stop him. I'm just patient and will play it when I can. Soooo many good games that GTA4 is just something I get to enjoy after everyone else moves on. I'm doing HL2 and Portal again. And since I got my second copy of The Orange Box, my oldest and I also get to play TF2 together.

I don't know if this helps your hypothesis, I don't have a launch 60gb, but I've had it about a year now.
