Dissapointed in No career mode but STILL a day 1 pickup for me. If you watch the Gamespot review the guy tells you that there is NO shortage of content...800 cars, tons of tracks, drifting etc...And you can choose 30 favorite cars to tune.
Do I WISH it had career mode? Yes.
Will that deter me from getting it? No.

Im completely with you. It wont fully deter me from not purchasing it however it does change from a day one purchase to a christmas or birthday purchase.
I was thinking that it would have received a lower score but I like this score much more than IGN's, and its more appropriate
That's the PSP 3000/GT Bundle if I'm not mistaken. Also I can't freaking wait until tomorrow!!!The game isn't coming out in the US util the 20th, I overheard at a store?

But is not having 5 levels of unlockable difficulty on each track a career mode?? Maybe not in the structed sense of previous GT versions or previous PSP racers but it's going to take a while. Even assuming only the "standard" variation of each track has it thats still 35 x 5 = 175 events to complete and if the variations all have it that's 350!!! A damn sight more that MS Arctic Edge (not that I complaining about MS since I love that title!!) and a lot of racing to complete them all. IMO the first reviewer of this game (IGN was it??) made a "mistake" and everyone else jumped on the bandwagon..... Got a text today saying my pre-ordered copy will be ready for collection in the morning....unfortanutly won't be able to get it until Friday :(
I'm rather confused right now about whether I want to buy this or not. The only racing game I have on my PSP is Wipeout Pure. Should I maybe get Ridge Racer or some other racers first before Grand Turismo? Ridge Racer was given a higher rating, though I wonder now, with all the time thats passed, how it would stand up to GT

Ridge Racer is a great game but it's different - very arcadey - insane drifting round corners is the only way to beat the AI, no racing line and just bounce off the walls. Awesome graphics and lengthy career (World Tour) mode. GT is obviously much more of a Sim with "real" cars etc etc.
You might want to try one of the Burnouts or one of the earlier NFS titles (underground rivals is great) - I'm getting my copy of GT tomorrow (can't get to the shop today as am away with work :( )

GT is going to be a lot more about real-world physics. You won't be drifting a corner at 130mph, you'll be required to use the brake and also shifting manually if you really want to be competitive in GT. "WipeOut Pure" is an awesome reacer (played it yesterday for about two hours), and if you like that then try "BurnOut", check out a friend's copy of GT or rent it before you buy it. It's going to be a much different animal that you are used to with "WipeOut" or any of the NFS games, etc.
I'm not trying to be insulting at all, but sim-racing tends to upset the more casual racing crowd. If you've never delt with tweaking the mechanical aspects of the car like ride height, shock throw and return, gearing set-ups, all in-depth, then perhaps GT isn't a good place to start... because you really need to be able to utilize all of that stuff to win.
But then again, you never know... you may find your new gaming love.
:D
Can someone confirm if the grand canyon track is in the game or not?
Thanks.

Yes it is.
I'm happy that "The Ring" is one of the tracks, but I wish they would have also added Grindelwald from GT2. That was one of my favorites from that game, but haven't seen it in any other GTs.:(
