You all are wondering why is this person so mad at one of the best games out there? One reason LAG!!!!!! One major problem is the audio lag in guitar hero III. We have a 60 GB PS3 with a HDMI cable to a 65" Mitsubishi 1080p DLP television. I first started playing and couldn't hit note i know 100% i was hitting them correctly. So i calibrated the lag and it offset it about 40-50 ms. I started playing and still felt the problem persisted. I wanted a second opinion an its true it has a terrible audio lag. My reasoning for the lag is the 2.4 Ghz controller. Why didn't they go to blue-tooth? The Wii did and it plays fine! If they are going to do HD gaming the should consider People who have a HDTV and create a game that considers the slow refresh rate of HDTVs. I found a solution i play my HD console on a SD-TV so i can play my game. Anyone else notice this?

I tried two versions of GH3, the 360 version at 1080p on my 56in Samsung DLP, and the Wii version at 480p on the same tv. I have no problem, or lag with either one. I have not tried the ps3 version.

While the controler will indeed add more lag, theyve expanded the hit timing to compensate.

I love the song list and everything but it frustrates me that i have to play it in Standard Definition. I like the controller but for $100 you expect the best. Both Hardware and software could have been better. Not the best in the series.

Is your sound running strictly from the TV speakers, or are you connected to a surround receiver? If connected to a receiver, this problem has been diagnosed by others and I believe they even came up with a workaround. If you check the GHIII board here at Gamespot, there's lots of info on this issue.

Check the menu, you can calibrate the timing = no more lag. Easy fix, no you can delete your post and move along in peace.

The calibrate feature is for video online, it won't compensate for audio lag like is being described here. Again, this is really more of a discussion to be had on the GHIII board since it is well documented there anyway.

QFT. I have my audio runnning through my 61" Samsung 1080p DLP or my 32" Vizio 720p LCD and I have no lag on either.

calibrate is not just for video online, it's simply for playing the game on an HDTV...although it doesn't apply to audio

try hooking it up directly to your tv, I bet thats why you have sound lag. Here is a test play a movie from yourPS3 with the sound on your stereo and tv turned up, you will find your stereo is a lilttle off.

Audio lag? What are you all talking about?

This problem this user has, probably has to do with the framerate issues on both the ps3 and 360 versions. If you play it in sd, the system won't have to use as much resources probably making a higher framerate.

I meant video only, not online, but it wouldn't let me edit and I was hoping no one would notice, lol. To hazuki: No, as the user stated, the issue is AUDIO lag. Meaning the notes must be "strummed" before you actually hear the riff. As has already been stated, the issue is caused by passing the audio through a receiver. For whatever reason, the receiver is adding a slight delay to the audio by way of processing time.
