guitar hero vs rockband

am thinking to get one of those games, which is one is better to get?

I think Rock Band is better. For one, the notes are a lot easier on the eyes and secondly the developers made the game more convenient by allowing downloadble content to be passed on to both main games. I have over 180 songs on Rock Band 2 because I exported songs from the first one, and from track packs.

I prefer GH, but RB is good as well.

I enjoy rock band more. I love the main story type mode, it actually feels like your in a band going to each venue in the main cities. In Guitar Hero, all you can do is click on posters and play the songs on each one.

There is over 500 songs available for Rock Band with whole soundtracks coming out every thursday. Guitar Hero gets some good music to, but not as much.

Side note:

You can buy rock band 2, then go out and rent or borrow rock band 1, download the latest patch for rock band 1, pay a 5 dollar transfer fee, transfer 55 of the 58 rock band songs to your harddrive, play these 55 songs in rock band 2, results are 139 available songs in rock band 2.

Then after you do this, get the code off your rock band 2 manual, put the code in at the website, recieve 20 free songs bringing the total up to 159 songs.

And this is all before even touching the DLC (which has been coming out every week since the release of rock band 1).

Second, and this is really the biggest thing to me for which one you should go with, is whether you will be playing by yourself, or with a group of people. The way band mode works in Rock Band (with each person being allowed 3 failures as long as the get brought back in with 'Energy') makes playing a group far better than Guitar Hero's shared Star Power, one of you fail, you all fail system. So playing with buddies, point Rock Band. Otherwise, a tie.

Third, I like Guitar Hero better for the guitar (who woulda guessed), but think Rock Band's system for the drums is better (although I want those cymbol extensions). To activate star power in GH, you have to hit both the yellow and orange cymbols at the same time which is awkward and can make an inexperienced drummer break timing, whereas Rock Band's fill system just seems to feel more natural, and allows you to be creative. Going to call it a tie since songs are more fun to drum on Rock Band but more fun to play on guitar in GH.

Those are my opinions as someone who has spent a considerable amount of time playing both.
