My interest in the PlayStation 3 has certainly been building of late, and I plan on investing within the next few months, however the 60GB model was discontinued in Australia last month. We are now limited to the 40GB version, which raises two questions:

Are you able to install your larger, generic harddrive down the line as required?

If not, what sort of volume do you suspect would be needed over the system's lifetime?

You can install any 2.5" laptop HDD, or you can buy an external HDD that's fat32 format.
