Well if it comes to Hard Drive capacities more is always better ofcourse, but it kinda depends on what you are planning to use your PS3 for and what your budget is. Only for gaming, 160GB is pretty much, I have the 40gig version which I use only for gaming and I never had any problems with my hard drive space so its kinda up to you...

Personally, if I ever have to buy a new model, I would go for the one with the most hard drive space though.

the reason i thought 120 was because of the price i mean its the cheapest ive found that isnt preowned going for a bigger one means a lot more money i mean i have the money but by paying £220 i can get loads more games you know

and i will only be using it for gaming online and offline :)

whats the average 1 game save takes up?

Well then I would suggest you to go for the 120gig version indeed. Only for gaming 120GB is more than enough.

And savegames are mostly very small, only a couple of hundred kb, while some games' savegames can be a few mb's, while I was backing up my savegames yesterday I noticed that the savegame for Chronicles Of Riddick was a little more than 10MB and the one for Heavenly Sword was around 7MB, but the rest should be around 500kb. Therefore savegames arent the things you have to worry about if it comes to your hard drive capacity.

Most of your hard drive space will be used for demos and game data (most games require some installment on your hard drive in order to be played, which should be a few GBs most of the time)

So ye, I would suggest the 120gb version, this saves you alot of money to buy extra games.

thank you for your help this is very helpful indeed and i think yes the installment thing wont be so bad, and demos i could get them and if they dont suite my fancy then they can be deleted just as easily :)

Get a 120gb or higher PS3 and not any less. Yes, it's very worth it.

Bear in mind that the consoles are generally released in cycles, and that different cycles have different internal components which go beyond the size of the hard drive alone. As I understand it the 160/320 gb models have been revised further in that their heat sinks are slightly more effective, whilst offering more efficient running times and potentially lower temperatures in addition. If you can afford it I'd avoid the temptation to go with last season's model and buy the most up to date version. As for the extent of space required this won't be an issue unless you're saving extensive media files to the PS3 generally. For the record, I have a CECH-2103 model and I've kept the original 250GB hard drive which is made by Hitachi, although they're not my preferred brand by a long shot ......

Here in the states the 120gb and 160gb versions are the same price. Anyway 120gb is enough for just gaming. I havent actually heard of anybody who filled up their PS3 with just game saves.

120gb ps3 slim is good enough you could always buy a 500GB HDD my fat has a 500GB. Im thinking of geting a another ps3 for living room like the newest slim with better heat stink and junk.
