Mine's been fine, it's a 60GB Day 1 launch unit. How can you accurately judge noise level? For reference, it's whisper quiet compared to a 360 or Gaming PC. It's however not quiet when compared to a silent room. The same comparisons work with the heat concern as well. It's on par with the 360 and Gaming PC.
My ps3 works fine, i have it since 24/12/07 (80gb) the only game were i have some problems is warhawk (but i guess thats my internet) but sometimes the controller doesnt work (with full battery at warhawk...lol) but all i have to do is plug it in the usb port and it works. the fan, i dont notice it when playing, but when i "want" to hear it, its like the ps2 fan, only a little "softer"

Yea, what are you comparing it too? When the 360 was on, I couldn't even hear myself speak. Alot of times I didn't even know the PS3 was on.
It does make an audible noise during quiet parts of games/movies, I dont notice it much when playing though.
Who cares...games gotta load man. It's like putting a pc game in your computer, it loads at certain times. You want it to be extra quite or something? Discs are round because they must spin, lol.
I find the noise to be very low, it's comparable to my computer which is mostly quiet (bought fans with low db level and high effiency in this regard). If you think your Ps3 is too noisy, put in a cooling water system inside (sarcasm) :P I've been having my Ps3 for 2 months or so and I didn't had any problems with it...
The only problem I've had is that sometimes it drops out of my streaming videos and sends me back to the menu. But you never know. I'm streaming it from Windows Media Player 11 so it could be sabotage.
mine caught the blu flu and won't play any discs and sony don't want to give me in warranty cause if of the warranty label is gone which was on there when i send it to them
Mines great. I've had it since Feb. Other than freezing a handfull of times, I've had no problems.donnygorgas
thats how it starts freezing i read on a forum on the net someone say people who got 60GB play assassin creed or COD4 good chance ya ps3 will get blu flu

Nope, works like a charm. I have the 80gb now, but had a 60gb for a year and it was fine. I'm on my 3rd 360 and it just recently started making loud noises, ugh....
Got the first one in June '07. It kept freezing. I phoned Sony and they said they'd send me a new one. I don't believe it was new. It was covered in scuff-marks, scratches and finger prints!
It also kept freezing so I took it back to the store I'd bought my first PS3 from and swapped it for a brand new retail PS3. That one lasted two months and it stopped recognizing discs. Forget loading them, it didn't even realize I'd put a disc in the drive.
I phoned Sony and they sent me another replacement. I'm hoping this one lasts longer than two months. All my PS3's have been 60GB models. The only other console I've had this much trouble with was the PS2. The DVD drive in those kept failing too. I've had my 360 for two years and had no problems and people say 360's are unreliable!
I've had my PS3 since X-mas '07 and I've played it like every day. I never hear it with the tv volume on, if I have it on mute I barely hear it. It's also much quieter than my boyfriends XBOX360, like a cricket compared to a screaming baby. :cry:
Naw I had my ps3 60gb since october is been working good since.and yes my freeze to but thats with everything from computers,game systems,cable boxs I would be shock if nothing freeze once in a while...

Lol so true, but i think my 360 has gotten louder lately. I wouldnt be suprised if it crapped out soon. I have put alot of hrs on it in the last few months. My disk drive dosent open all the way either , I hope it craps out with the rrod disk drive is not covered
