I have two HDTVs in my home the one in my living room is a 1080p set and the one in my basement/gameroom is the 1080i set . Currently my PS3 is in my living room due to the scaling issues, and my wife hates it there, partly because we made and agreement when we bought our house that I would turn my finished basement in to my gaming area. I told her that I want us to be able to watch movie together on Blu Ray, but she could care less plus when she's home I never get to play the thing, which was ok at first because I buy everything on the 360 anyway, but now the Holiday Hell is upon us with many exclusives that I plan to play. Is this still and issue, or have they fixed it via one of their way too often sw updates? I tried to search previous topics, but I see regarding scaling is talking about DVD & PS2 upscaling.

There were no problems with scaling. Selected games support some basic scaling but dont expect it on every title as it requires taking away CPU time from the games.
