I bought this game a while ago. I hate the "stick system" I can't shoot the puck when I want to, since the stick handling is on the right stick along with shooting, and slap shooting. This will be the first game that I snap in half if I do. It might be good for a sim, if you know how to setup a sim league and run one using the nhl 08 sysemt. I used to love the NHL/NHLPA games, but now they will always be horrible due to the new stick system. I also do no like using the classic controls when you switch over from the regular way that the games is designed for. Let me know if you have any comments about the NHL Ea sports hockey series after they switched their default controls to right stick/left stick.
I have nhl 09 . and imo the shot stick is great. it does take time to master it( started my dynasty 4-6 3-5 ps you can turn on the auto aim if your having trouble scoring.
My main problem is that if I am just playing a casual game half the time it won't even shoot the puck when I flick forward. if I try to pull back and flick forward , I will either shoot a snap shot or I will not shoot at all. I can execute a shot if I focus on that, but it seems more trouble than it is worth. I'm glad you like the stick. I think if I am really into a game then I can get with it. I just don't think I should have to concentrate to execute a shot. scoring is hard, but I am more bothered by the fact that I can't even get off a shot or the type of shot I want to get off. forget about the puck handling, I won't even think about trying to pull off any of that.

that happened to me too. at first scoring was hard and most of the time I would throw the puck away. can you customize the controls?( I haven't tried it) maybe that could help
Dude you are missing out on one of, if not the greatest sports games ever. The stick takes some getting used to but once you get it you will never go back. This game is simply amazing. Give it a few games to sink in. I recommend trying online to see how other players are able to use the stick. Just don't expect to win, the online community is fierce.
I think the sports games are best online, I don't have that right now, so that could be part of the problem. I can't get up for a game against the computer. I just can't get the shooting right. I give up on it. Moving on, I was really good at NBA live online . as they say, maybe next year. Also, let's go Ovechkin, maybe if I get back into it my dynasty will get it together!
