I had a launch PS3. It worked great for 5 months, then the Blu-Ray player quit on me. I wasn't mad though, I called Sony, still under warranty, waited 2 weeks, got my new PS3 back on the 24th of December. Good thing too! I got UT3 and Rock Band for my Xmas/Birthday.coolcat888That's sweet and good to know. It's also cool how you and Jesus share the same birthday :P
well mine broke down (bluray player stopped working) and i sent it in...came back real fast the service was pretty great...CosmoKing7717
I know! I called them and the guy that I talked to spoke perfect English. I gave him all my information and I was done in less than 5 minutes!
I had a problem, my PS3 stoped reading games !!
Every time i put a game in, it wouldnt show and it wouldnt play. its like there is no CD in there... I formated and restored the system but the problem stayed there.
I went with my warranty and got a new one. Until now i dont know what was that problem.
Ps. how do u guys add those cool pics in an approperiate size under ur posts ?
I have a launch 60 GB , has frozen like 2-3 times, other than that she has been a thing of beauty ..
Mine froze once while loading "Odin Sphere." Everything returned to normal after I reset the PS3.
Nothing else ever happened.
I guess it's because I don't play long hours on it. I usually game for 3 hrs. max.
Mine's frozen quite a few times on Warhawk and the internet browser, once on Uncharted and once on UT3. Hopefully it doesn't harm the console.
I thought I had a PS3 problem to the point I sent my system in and got another back.
Hooked it all up and had the SAME problem. (Audio would cut out randomly)
So I did more research on my Samsung Plasma 4254...
Turned out it needed a firmware update to correct the problem. VOILA!
PS3 is a beast. It's like a Toyota. It's designed to last and last. :D
YES, after about 6-7 months my PS3 just died. After some research, I had downloaded a virus through a usb drive on a picture i used as a screen saver. It just made my PS3 dead. But I did send it in to SCEA and they sent me a new one! It did take about 2 weeks for the box to arrive and after I sent it off, it was back in about 10-12 days. I was very happy with the customer support, since I didn't even have a ticket of purchase. Plus it was a re-furb from gamestop (that part I didn't tell them). But now I am very happy and the time my PS3 was gone, I broke out my PS1 and started to play Chrono Trigger again. That game was super great!
But really SCEA will take care of any problems you have or might have in the future. Customer support is vital and SONY has it on lock.
I bought my PS3 around the end of February and it went belly up around the end of March. It would play for about ten mintutes, then freeze. After it did that once, it was out of commision for a day or so. Luckily I waited a couple days and had just enough time to retrieve all my saved game data before it froze up again. I called Sony and they sent me the box (about 4-5 days) I sent it out that very day (the return shipping label they provided was an overnight label which was a nice touch).
Unfortunatly, since the damn consoles are so popular now, there is a back order and I am having to wait for an exchange which is killing me. I just purchased Hot Shots Golf three days before it crapped out and was super depressed about that, but now I am even more freaked out about the possibilty of not having my console back before GTA 4 comes out. I've been waiting so long for that friggin game, and now it looks like I'll have to wait even longer, all the while listening to my friend give me **** about how awesome and WORKING his Xbox is.
Overall, the people I've dealt with over the phone and online with Sony have been very nice and mostly helpful, although I tend to get the same cookie cutter response from everyone. Basically I got to keep checking the service status report on their site and pray that this whole "back order" situation gets cleared up quickly.
Why do I get to be one of the lucky 3 percent... Curse you Jeebus!
Just got my console back today! They overnighted last night and it showed up around 9:30 this morning. All this worry for (mostly) not, instead of it being delayed and what not, they ended up getting it back to me in 8 days (projected timeline 7-15 days).
It truely sucked being without a console, but I'm overall pleased with the way Sony handled everything.
I have a problem. IT WONT PLAY SOUND! Sorry for yelling but I am not in a good place right now. This morning my PS3 decided it will not play any sounds that I make in game. I can hear the sounds that NPC, other players online make. But any sounds I make, including the clicking sound on the menu, gun fire, footsteps.
