I lost A LOT until I unlocked the first motorcycle, use the motorcycles with maxed out AGRO and you'll be fine. It gets much easier as you progress through the game.

To me it varied race to race. I finished about 85% of the career no problem. Then some were very challenging and a couple were just plain cheap. But I only used cars I liked which weren't always the fastest. When I tried the bikes the game became too easy so I stuck with the cars on everything except for the bike races.

Pretty sure the red races are IMPOSSIBLE early in the game - even though a few of them get unlocked relatively early. I tried one of the red races probably before I should have and lost like 10 straight times (I was trying with a classic mustang that i upgraded a little). The way the AI drivers drive, and the cars they have, you probably need a supercar or bike to win most of them. It's actually pretty frustrating to watch the way the AI cars drive. Now that you mention it I should start playing this game again. For whatever reason after a few days I put it down and haven't touched it for months. I ended up getting Dirt 2, so I guess that kind of took my attention away as far as racing games.

The Ai can be rediculous on the red ones. It's like they can go straight through traffic. It's frustrating but ROAR won me most of those :]

Just make sure to FINISH the race, don't restart it right before the finish line because you are about to lose. It adjusts the difficulty by how you do in the races, and if you keep restarting, it can't adjust the difficulty for you. That being said, this is probably the best arcade racer this gen. It's a shame that they aren't making anymore Midnight Clubs. :(
