Having Issues with my controller

Sometimes when I press my L3 button so that I can sprint in certain games my character ends up doing other things such as firing a gun or jumping as if I pressed the button for those commands. Any know of a fix for this problem or should I just go ahead and buy a new controller?

sounds like a hardware fault. if it's not under warrent then id spring for a new one
