Yesterday wile playing my PS3 shut down by itself, it didn't make a beep sound and even the red light turn off. After that i tought it was a problem with the power outlet so i tried a different one and to my surprise it wasn't the outlet something is wrong with my PS3, every time i'd tried to turn it on the red light was turning off instead of changing to green and when it did finally turn on it didn't read a game i put. For the rest of the day it'd continued like that, almost every time i was trying to turn it on the red light was turning off and the system wasn't turning on.

Now today it's working but i don't know if i should trade it in at GameStop and pay 149.99 for a Slim or if i should send it to Sony. The worst part is that i did already sent it to Sony for a disc slot issue and they sent it back to me repair but with a lot of minor scratches and sounding a bit louder and now in three month it is giving me these problems.

My first PS3 was a 40GB and the touch panel stop working, i sent it to Sony, they sent me a refurbished all scratch and was frezzing a lot so i sold it and got a 80GB without BC and with Dualshock 3. I think the touch panel got damaged by electrical problems we were having in the area i live at that time.

What do you think is the better choice?

The system could have overheated and shut itself down until it had time to cool down. You may want to make sure the PS3 has plenty of space for air to flow through the system freely. It needs space in the front and rear along with the sides. I found that by haveing my system standing vertical it tends to run slightly cooler. The nice thing is the PS3 doesn't need any kind of stand.

Yeah it could have overheated but when a system overheat it should make bleep sound twice, mines didn't make that sound and the red light turned off instead of taying red and every time i was trying to turn it one the red light was going off.
