I had my PS3 at my place playing perfectly on a HDTV. Now I'm visiting a relative's place and they don't have a HDTV. Therefore, I'm trying to play it on a SDTV. However, the settings on the PS3 are for a HD display so there's no picture what so ever on the SD display. So I can't even change the settings. Is there any way I can somehow fix it so I at least have a picture on the SD display?

Are you sure that the TV is on the right AV setting?

When the red light is on (standby mode) turn it on but hold the on button for 5-7 seconds until you hear a couple more beeps, it will then go to the SD TV setting .. and when you go home you'll have to do it again to change it back to HD.

Glad to hear you got a solution to your problem, but this thread has lived its course. Also in the future this thread would probably be more appropriate.
