i just spent 10 bucks on a HDMI cable for my PS3 and need some answer. and yes obviously i have an HDTV

first of all evrything seems smaller on my TV now and i cant find a way to fix it. i dont understand what the hell 480p, 720p, 1080i and 1080p mean. and when ever i start a game or movie the screen goes blue for a sec and says no signal then the game or movie starts. im no HD wiz and i wasnt eager to play my PS3 in HD or anythin but today i was at at Rogers and i was goin to rent a movie and thaought id give this HD stuff a try. so i rented Rambo on blu-ray and got this cable that is supposedly needed to watch blu-ray and i spent 5 bucks and my bro spent 5 bucks on it.

the widescreen is drivin me nuts

the thing with the screen going "no signal" has to do with the settings and what the movie/game has for specifications. So if the game supports 1080p it will go for that setting (as far as your tv supports it). The tv is just re-configuring for the right settings supported by your tv/game.

that cable your talking about at the end is the hdmi right? and of course everything seems smaller you are increasing the resolution of the screen...your tv goes blue for a sec and then plays because it is searching what signal to play on the playstation xmb is in 1080p but some games play at only 720p in order to adjust tv losses signal and reconnects as 720p everything is working fine

480p is EDTV, which is a little better than SDTV.

720p is HD-Ready.

1080i & 1080p are Full HD but 1080p is the best!

So, check whether your HDTV supports 1080i/p signals or just 720p...

Mine does that too but I don't find it as an issue really.
