Well, if you buy an HDTV it will have a built in HD Tuner. Not sure where you should start looking though, for the best prices. Vizio has some good prices on a 32".

But what I've been wondering is about the HD Ready televisions. I plan on getting a PS3 for my cousin but he doesn't have an HDTV yet. I can't get him an hdtv too... but best buy has some 22" or 24" HD ready t.v.'s for like $200... they look similar to the models you see in the gamestops... anyone know if these can produce a nice crisp picture? I have a real hdtv so I'm not sure what the difference would be?

HD ready means it doesn't have a HD tuner built in to the tv.  So you can't pick up over the air HD broadcasts from your local stations.  It has nothing to do with games.

Sharp and Samsung are both known to make very good LCD HDTVs. If you want to learn more, go to CNET.com and do some research on your own.

Yes if the native resolution is 720p or up then you can play games in HD.  You just can't watch free hdtv broadcasts over the air from fox, nbc, cbs or abc + any other local stations in your area.  You'll need to buy an external HD tuner if you want that.

That tv is not even worthy of being an HDTV in an outhouse. AWFUL performance in every way one could measure.

tigerdirect.com had 42" refurbed Vizios I believe for $499 for a while. Frys usually has a 37" Syntax Olevia LCD for $597 in the store on the weekends. Check the ads.

DUDE, all a HD TV tuner does is allow you to hook up an antenna and watch HD channels over the air waves. nothing more nothing less. it has 0 effect on any games movie whatver.. It only means that you dont need to get a cable box to watch HD channels.

Only HD Moniters don't have a HD Tuner built into it.  If it says HDTV on it, it should have a tuner in it.

As for cheap, if you want to go cheapest, then you will want to look for a CRT type of HDTV.  They are cheap but extremely heavy.  Next down the line is LCD, more expensive but a lot less weight.
