The WD2500SB is a 3.5" PATA drive. The PS3 needs a 2.5" SATA drive.

No it isn't right. Your PS3 has a built in WiFi receiver that's an actual component. Not a file on your hard drive.

I put a 320 gig one in mine, all the settings stay the same except you obviously lose all ur save games and any downloaded content so back them up your save games 1st on a flash drive, and redownload any content.

Or just use an external FAT32 based drive and the built in HDD cloning/backup tool that comes with the PS3.

Well, I'm a little confused by your comment, but by no means am I confused on the difference between flash drives (MicroSD for example) and HDD (Seagate, WD for example). You mentioned using a USB HDD for "cloning/backup" and I asked the question of whether or not that was stated above. Sorry to confuse you my friend.

P.S. Upon further review I see where you made the mixup. It's all good. I actually got two "HDD for PS3 Upgrade" threads mixed up.

for me particularrly.. the reason i wanted an internal is because its more "sleeper".. about the wifi, i know its separate, but i was also told that the programing is on the origional hdd... as of right now, i only have 3 games, and the saves are small enough for a small usb drive... so i just put my game saves on that... and then i know to do a full format..im not sure if the os is the same or not im gonna try some old posts... thanks for the help

The game saves can be saved in a few different ways and any downloaded content that was paid for can be redownloaded from PSN. As far as which drive to use, any 2.5 SATA HDD should work. I for one would like to see how large these drives can get because if I remember correctly there at a little over 500 gigs as of now. I feel they could reach a T-Byte in the near future.
