I am going to get a PS3 on wednesday and I have a question about the HDMI cable. Does it matter the brand of the HDMI cable because I have a Radio Shack one I got for $50, while I see Monster HDMI cables going for $100. Is there any difference besides the obvious that Monsters are better, like would the Radio Shack HDMI cable give me lower quality HD video and audio than the Monster HDMI cable?

One more question, what cable do i need to have to connect the PS3 to my receiver to get 5.1 surround sound?

Branded HDMI cables are a waste of money.  Your Radio Shack cable will do just fine.

You will need an optical audio cable to connect your PS3 to your reciever (assuming that it doesn't have HDMI in/out).

HDMI is a digital cable format, which means that the cable cost doesnt matter...they are all same in quality if it works.
HDMI either works or doesnt, so if the cables broken, it doesnt work..but if its not broken it works perfectly...

The monster cables cost more because of all the "middle man:" business stuff...

you need an optical cable to connect ur ps3 to the surround sound....check to see if ur surround has that type.
