hdmi cable problem

When I was playing infamous my tv started acting up. I tryed to fix it but then the screen want blank. I just got this hdmi cable about to months ago. I know its the hdmi cable because when I plug it in it wont desplay in hd and it dosent work. I try putting it to another hdmi slot but same thing no pictuer or anything. I think my ps3 fryed my dmi cable because it was way to hot when I unplugged it. If I buy another one do you think it will work. I noticed that my ps3 gets really hot and especially where the hdmi cable is. Do you think it will happen again. I got the 120 gigabit model and I leave my ps3 on the carpet florr. Oh and sometimes my cat blocks the vents. So is it save to buy a new hdmi cable or should I by a expenive one. Sorry if this dosne make sense and I spelled anything wrong. Oh and should I keep my ps3 off the carpet floor.

Oh and I tryed the cable or another tv is dosent work.

Get a cheap cable, HDMI either works or doesn't. The expensive ones may be made from materials of *higher quality*, but it doesn't translation to better *picture quality*.

Is this a joke, because if not then no wonder you are having problems if you keep your ps3 on carpet and let your cat cover the vents.
