so i just got a brand new samsung lcd, real awesome, and for that i bought an hdmi cable, and i was wondering if there is any difference between the gold and silver hdmi's plugs?
I work at The Source By Circuit City, so I am credible. Just a note.
And yes, if you an incredible freak, gold will make a difference. It just reduces resitance and oxygen flow in the cable to give you a better connection. I'd personally buy gold because I like having the best of the best.
Any time I can get any connector that's gold plated I always do because it makes a much better connection and doesn't corrode like other connections. It also tends to dissipate any heat in the connection that may accure if there is a slight amount of heat build up. The only draw back is the connectors are not designed to be constantly disconnected and reconnected because the material is much softer than other materials.
You might get a better connection from the gold cables, but it usually just a scam to fool you out of your money.
If you want great cables for a good price, get the "high quality" cables from monoprice.com. You can get a high-quality 25ft HDMI 1.3a cable for $26.51 and it will be just as good as anything Monster puts out... probably better.
