I've had my ps3 hooked up with the AV cables for a while now and got a new tv and begun to hook up the HD cables. Went to device settings and changed it to HDMI and screen went blank and changed after 30seconds, tried it a few more times and nothing hd is working. Any help right now would be appreciated,

Do you know how to reset your system to display back in STandard Def? If not put the system in standby mode. If it is already hold the button area on the PS3 for power and it will go on. Continue to hlod your finger there and it will go back off in a few seconds (make sure you do not remove your finger. Once it goes back into standby mode turn it on again and it will revert back to SD. You should be able to then try changing the Res. to HD again. If that doesn't work I might recommend a call to Sony.

Try having the HDMI cable connected to the TV and PS3, but make sure that the correct HDMI input from your TV is selected. Now with the PS3 in standby (the red light on the front is the only light on) then hold your finger on the power button until the second beep before removing your finger (this puts the PS3 in auto-detect mode). I found that the only time this fails is if you hold the power button to long or not until the second beep (it may take a few tries before you get the hang of it). I have experimented with this method several times and it has never failed regardless of which connection your trying to get.

Ya ive been trying that, sorry for not posting but im constantly running back and forth trying to fix it, im starting to think its the cable because in audio settings, it says " A connection error has occured with the HDMI device try turning it on first. " Ya im using a Sony Bravia 32" XBR series with a sony hdmi cable if that is of any relevance.
