I just got a new LG tv HDMI compatible. Anyways, I'm trying to get it to run the ps3 in hd, so when I start it up, the screen says PS3 has noticed an HDMI connection, would you like to set your audio and video in HD format. I pressed X and the screen went totally blank and is still at this moment blank. Help please.

combo? this is push if so. Man you need to hook it up first with a composite cable. then do hdmi. your ps3 is probably trying to push out a resolution that your computer cannot support

When you start your PS3 hold your finger on the power button until you hear another beep and it will pick up the HDMI.

You may have to do a reset by holding the power button until the second beep. The trick is as soon as you hear the second beep then you need to release the button at that time. The system may be set-up to connect to a SDTV via the AV composite or component cable and it needs to be changed, which the power button trick will select the correct connection.
