Well, I've been playing with the idea on hooking up HDMI to my monitor (VIA my DVI port with a converter), and was wondering how in the world I'd run sound out to my sound system.

The sound doesn't have a HDMI port, and has to be run using Red+White stereo outputs. Is there a way to get the HDMI + the sound to work also? Right now I'm running it on component cables and am very happy with the picture, but my monitor only will run 1080p in DVI, otherwise it'll run 1080i in component. Is it worth the hassle?

Thanks!

You cannot get sound from DVI. It is only video. Also, remember if you are using a DVI-HDMI cable then your monitor must be HDCP compliant or you will not even get a picture. You can get digital sound from a Digital optic cable plugged into the Ps3.

What i have done is this I use HDMI for Video and then i use my normal AV cables that come with the PS3 and plug them in and use them for Sound. And to use them on PC speakers you can buy a AV to Audio in jack that you can then plug into your audi in for the PC thats how i get sound cause i have the creative 7.1 speakers so i use them for my PS3 and X360 also dont frget to change your audio output in the setting menu on the PS3.
