I wonder this too, since I don't use my TV really for TV watching, I could buy a HD monitor and it would be much cheaper and I could just play it as if it were a PC (sitting close to it, as opposed to sitting on a couch or something), and I'm assuming that the graphics would be the same, if not better, since PC monitors can support all the high-end PC games.

An HDTV can support all of the high end PC games too.
You need to decide yourself. Monitors are hard to come by in larger sizes and lack a tuner. TV's have a tuner, can be easily found in large sizes, are more available with higher refresh rates and 3D ready, and are typically more expensive than comparably sized monitors. Other specs such as contrast, brightness, ports, etc, need to be considered. There's no clear cut "better".
