head phones questions

i got the remote and headphones at eb games today for $4.99 canadian (boo yea) and i noticed that the left bud cord is shorter than the right, why is that? and the buds have holes in the like someone put them therer or made them bigger, are there holes in them?

and can someone give me some instructions on how to use them?

yes. you put the shorter one in one ear, and then wrap the long one around the back of your neck to your other ear.
