I thought the first game was great, particularly the boss fights, and kai sections.
However it didn't really end with any real set-up for a sequel in my opinion, who knows though, maybe we'll be firing more bolts from Kai's crossbow one day soon, we can always hope.
Still...I won't hold my breath.
Actually, there is an article that was posted by Kotaku that stated Ninja Theory held a small focus group where gamers were invited to talk about what they would like to see in a sequel. Apparently, Heavenly Sword was written to be a trilogy, so hearing about a sequel is not impossible.
Some new ideas included: A male lead character, more interactive environments, and learning different fighting styles.

The guys who made 1 said they want to make more online focused games, so, I doubt a sequal will ever come.Andrew_XavierThey said it was going to be a trilogy, and apparently a focus group was done already by Ninja Theory for HS2

Absolutely, I was thinking the same thing, so what if she dies they can bring her back anytime they wanted to. But a grown more experienced and sexier Kai as a lead character would be sweet. I just feel that the writing for this story was intense (metal gear solid caliber drama, if I may be so bold), and would be a shame to end it the way it did.

Rumor is that they are working on 360/PS3 game, so short answer is no, for now. But you said that you dont expect it ever to come. I think you are wrong, lets not forget that Sony owns that IP, and if Ninja Thoery has no interest and in future demands for sequel grows than Sony will let some other studio do it.
If VGchartz are to be believed game is close to 1 million sold, and for 1 gen game that come out in early period of console....that is damn good if you ask me. You can say that LAIR flopped and most likely sequel will never be released but when it comes to Heavenly Sword...trust me Sony will not let it die. If i was to decide, i would give this IP to Sony santa monica studio, guys that make God of War games. Let them "fix" and improve this game for sequel.
[QUOTE="bsman00"]I agree that game was sweet.... but she died at the end so i dont think so... unless they made another with kai as the main characterJCMac120
Thanks for the spoiler alert! kind of walked right into that one...
I am not sure it is spoiler. It has been said that in beggining of the game she dies, and then you start like few dies prior to that event and go towards it. Thing is who ever use that sword dies. I didnt play the game, but i remember that being said by developers many times before release so its not a major spoiler.
I don't think it reached a million in sales wordwide, I think games need to sell quite well in order for there to be a sequel on ps3. I am pretty sure we will see uncharted again, and maybe ratchet, but as far as folklore lair and heavenly sword, I don't think there will be a sequel. Poor folklore.gamenerd15
Folklore and Lair flopped but Heavnely Sword did sell in decent numbers. It was popular here in EU.
Once again here is vgchartz stats, even if many doubt this site, it still gives you an idea, and they are famous for undertracking PS3 games.

If 50 cent's excuse for a video game can get a sequel, then I think Heavenly Sword can be a trilogy or longer.
From Wikipedia:
"According to Ninja Theory co-founder Tameem Antoniades, the story for the sequel has been already written; in fact a whole trilogy is being planned. He stated, "We've had the story for the sequel for a while now. Hopefully, if this game is successful, then there's no reason why there shouldn't be a sequel and we'd very much like to go into that."[20]
On March 21, 2008 on G4's Attack of the Show it was listed on the scrolling banner that Ninja Theory is not planning to create a sequel for Heavenly Sword, and instead has decided to work on a new project. Though information on the decision and the aforementioned project were sparse, it was stated that production time for the new project will span well over a year, and that the project, like Heavenly Sword, will be extremely cinematic."
Heavenly Sword has sold a bit over a million copies. But if a sequel ever comes out, I guess it would take 2 to 5 years from now.
Metal Gear Sold 3 went back before MGS1 .. Heavenly Sword can do the same, before all of the things happened ..
Never say never, it was one of the best PS3 games hands down, used the Sixaxis perfectly ..
I am really surprised at how many people like this game. I thought that it was disappointing when compared to all the other great action titles that are out there. The controls felt too unresponsive at times and the overly shiny graphics hurt my eyes. I really did like the way they used the sixaxis controls, that was really fun, probably the best part of the game for me. What also pissed me off was that stupid boss fight against that freaky looking guy with the pony-tail, his voice really annoyed me during all those cutscenes before and between the fight.MonacoX
Everything about it was great, but not everyones cup of tea ..
For what it is worth, if they do make a sequel, i wish Nariko would come back, i for one actually liked her as the main character, one of the reasons why it didnt sell well is because alot of people didnt like that the main character was a girl. I dont see what is the problem with that:?
There is another Heavenly Sword game in the making but the main character is supposed to be a guy.Sony_92
****HEAVENLY SWORD SPOILER ALERT****
No, no, no. There is A RUMOR of a male main character in Heavenly sword 2, A SMALL one. There's like an 80% chance of KAI taking up the sword. But the only thing that is CONFIRMED is that they have written the story as a trilogy. Just look up on wikipedia, they have a full article about it.
So to close the topic, even with Nariko dead, the story was written in three parts of which we played only one. Ninja Theory has revealed they would very much like to make a Heavenly sword 2 but that might be years away.
Who knows, maybe even for PS4 :P
