I just got heavenly sword today, and have finished chapter 2, and the game is just outstanding there hasnt been better ingame cutscenes in a game ever, The animation to the acting!! the motion capture is really amazing, Also the fact that there is a huuge amount of enemies on the screen at one time with big draw distance with graphics that rival gears of war is just amazing, The combat system is great and this is the first game to truly get the motion sensing sixaxis controller to work and be very fun!!, it makes the sixaxis feel like it's actually good for progression of next gen!!!controlling kai's arrows through the air while defending shen is just a blast!!!!! I spent a good 4-5 hours just playing the first 2 chapters because they were so damn fun, it has a lot of replay value because it's just that good!!! so far it's look to be my favourite game so far this gen and apart from gears of war this is the only game that has felt truly next gen, but this game has just taken it to the next level!!!!!!

no, not the first. gears was the first true next gen game for me. but HS is great.

But you must make a difference between gameplay graphics and cutscene. the cutscenes are gorgeous. most of them are made with the game engine, but they look better than the gameplay (logicall , cause there is no interaction needed). gameplay looks good to, but textures lack detail in gameplay.

but this game is underrated. it's one of the few games i started again right after i fifnished it. i almost never do that. very immersive game.

hey, there's one more good news for HS

HS is in the newest DualShock3 support list. We just need to download a patch to make it workable in the upcoming near future.

I just think it's even better because of the sheer huge numbers of people on screen and it's all just so epic, the characters are amazing as well!!, heavenly sword truely shows you whats good about the sixaxis controller!!!

You guys seriously convinced me to buy this game. Thanks for the positive reviews.

Go back and play it and try it with completely different combos then you used before. Also try it on Hell Mode. Also try to earn all 138 glyphs on Hell Mode. The game is more then a rental if you really dig deeper into the fighting system and try to earn 3 glyphs on every stage.

I would say that Oblivion was the first "next-gen" game due to the advances in graphics and AI that it made. Although it sounds like Heavenly Sword definately belongs in that category also.

I cant get over how great the facial expressions are sometimes i just leave the game and just look at Narikos face in the chapter selection screen its amazing

I beat the game today ima start hell mode today or tomorrow i honestly dont see why you would just want to rent it just because of its length the combos are freaking endless and its just a great story one that is fun to beat over and over again its like watching your fav movies it never gets old

Definitely like watching afavorite movie. It's the perfect length to replay over and over, with enough depth to the fighting system to get great satisfaction on each play

Yes it truly is a great next gen game, great combat, amazing presentation, the first time ive really enjoyed six-axis.

But theres one or two things that truly are not next generation, first off the enemy AI is really poor, theres trigger lines all over if you go past them enemies will just be oblivious to where you are even though your in line of sight, and you can pick them off one by one, also the kai level where you are in a circled room and enemy come in through gates, first off they just bunch together and roll about like headless chickens, regardless is your shooting at them or not, and if you run down the corridor where they came from they are oblivious to where they came from.

It really has poor AI, also the boss battles are really derivative, like fighting wiptail you dodge the short waves, slash through the big ones, run to the other end hit her a few times rinse and repeat, and the battle vs roach is basicly the same wait for him to get stunned hit him wait for him to do one of two of his attacks that stun him then hit a few times again.

It's like fighting bosses from ten years ago.

Other than that the game is a very good game, i really love the combat system, i just think it could have been a classic game if the AI was improved greatly, Exploration, platforming and puzzling and the boss battle were not so original.

Hopefully these improvements will be made for either heavenly sword two or ninja theory's next game.

I think it has the best presentation of any game ever, and shows what ps3 can do presentaion wise, it shows gaming is rivaling movies and can be an entertainment art form.

I will agree with you about the AI, but how many games out there truly have intelligent AI? Outside of one-on-one fighting games, don't all game bosses havelimited attack patterns that you can figure out and beat?

Im pretty sure just about every boss in history has that. People complain about odd things.

I just want say that I also Love 'Heavenly Sword'.

To me as well, this game is a lot longer than 6 hours, and I'm enjoying every single minute of it.

Their graphics are true 'Next Gen' :D

heavenly sword definately had a big budget. the movie-like finish of the game was emotionally moving. kudos to ninja theory on making a great game with a great story. its not going to win any awards because its too short and not revolutionary, but it sure makes a good action game.

Just rent it.. Its just like the demo but 5 1/2 hrs longer, with a story.  It really is just like the demo, hack and slash all the way tru over over and over. Kias arrow shooting, and cannon shooting break the cycle somewhat. Some people love this game, It just didnt have a reason for me to play tru again.

I'm just about finished my third playthrough. I just toss it in now and play whichever chapter I feel like playing. The game is short, but the replay value is tremendous, for me. Not for bonuses either, just because the game is that fun.

Hey dont get me wrong, love the game, great production value, great fighting engine but they seriously need to fix the framerate issue in the next one. The one thing im really happy with is that this is a game that has come out early in the PS3's life cycle so it just shows that the games will get better and better with time, cause honostly these graphics are beautiful, gameplay, music i can go on and on, but they really need to come up with a way to keep the framerate steady, thats my biggest peeve. But hey, lets go Sony, keep up the great work.
