Topic. I almost bought DMC4 for my 360, but people kept saying the ps3 ver was better. Now, I'm also interested in HS.
I can't buy both, since I WILL buy COD4 along with one of those 2.

10 hours long huh?... Still can't make up my mind :Ppotterpipi
He didn't say 10 hours long.. he said 10 hours shorter than the other game. I havn't played either so i can't give my opinion.. from what i've heard both are good games though.
Heavenly sword had a GREAT storyline. The button mashing was a tad repetitive but King Bohan's acting was worth the price alone.
DMC4 kinda took me time to get used to (especially since you play as 2 tottaly different character styles).. but it was pretty good. I loved the cutscenes.

Since I have both games and I have finished them two times each, (:P) I can't recommend you one over another simply because they use almost identical formula.
Both are fast action packed that will keep you busy and entertained. If you wish to save money and can't afford both games I'd recommend for you to buy Devil May Cry 4 and rent Heavenly Sword. This is because as great as Heavenly Sword is, you can sit down and in nice slow pace finish it in one weekend. The average person will finish the game is 7-8 hours. This is not bad by any means, I have the game and really enjoyed it. If you're looking for something to last longer, out of the two choices you provided DMC-4 will last you longer.
If you're a fan of Devil Franchise, then there really is nothing to worry about, DMC-4 delivers exiting -12-15 hours gameplay. I personally finished the game on my first play on regular difficulty in a little bit over 17 hours.
Both are terrific games, whichever you prefer - you will have a blast playing. :)
Sokol.
thanks for the replies.
Over all the posts I read here, most recommend HS, but the last poster did have a point. I could finish a 20hour long game in 3 days, without being stuck on the tv.
Conclusion would be, after reading Sokol's post, and reading the GS review again, Heavenly Sword could be beat in less than 2 days, even if it's great, I can't stand a short single player game. I'll rent it tomorrow, then buy DMC4.
Thanks again for the replies dudes.

I think you made the right choice there, HS was a pretty good game but I beat it in about two 4-5 hour playing sessions (if that). It was fun while it lasted and the story was great, but I have absolutely no desire to go back and play it again either. If I had bought it (gamefly ftw!) I would feel like I had just wasted $60. DMC4 on the other hand has about as much depth to its combat system as tekken or soul calibur...if you like perfecting your technique you will be playing it for years and years.
go with DMC4 or Ninja Gaiden Sigma if you are in need of an Action/Adventure game that puts the emphasis on action.ZimpanX
I'm playing Ninja Gaiden Sigma now it truly is an amazing game, the story isn't anything ground breaking though. What I love is that the game is challenging, well at least to me I've died a lot the AI is very good which makes the fights really cool it feels like a real Ninja fight with everyone jumping around. I plan on getting Heavenly Sword and Uncharted next but that wont be for a while I still have Ratchet and Clank, Resistance fall of man, and I have to beat the old MGS games before MGS4 comes out.
Both are very good games. But if you have to nit-pick:
Challenge: DMC4 (actualy, NGS fits that bill the most but DMC4 has better graphics than NGS)
Length: DMC4. However, that is not particularly a good thing for DMC4. That's because you end up playing the same levels (and fight the same bosses) as Dante as you progress through the game. Hence, I feel that the game drags a little bit. For the sake of extra hours of gameplay, CAPCOM dishes you levels that you have to play over twice. To some, that scenario isn't a big deal. For me however, I'd prefer HS's short length only because it's length is perfect for conveying its story. And its a story I like going through again once in a while because it does have some depth and meaning to it (check this link out: http://advanced-ia.com/2007/11/26/ia-study-heavenly-sword/ ). Not to mention great acting and a good script (something that CAPCOM games lack).
Controls: Both have a solid control configuration. DMC4 is tried and tested. HS however has a more different set-up and takes time getting used to if you have been playing the previous DMC's but it's solid nonetheless.
Graphics: HS despite being older. But DMC4 is 60 fps.
I'd say rent both and see for yourself which you prefer. Or you can buy DMC4 for now and wait for HS to drop in price (if you're willing to wait) so you can get them both.

You know, I've read other ppl saying the same thing... but I've had great replay value from HS. I've enjoyed playing it over more times than DMC so far (but of course I've owned it longer also). But the point is that the combat is genuinely fun and the story is MUCH better... I mean MUUUUCH better than DMC4's.
